Which incidence took place first?
by Bikash Biswas on Sep 20, 2013 12:57 PM

Mr. Sarat Pradhan, can you say which incidence took place first - the birth of Rama or the Masjid of Babar? How the Muslims will feel a mandir is made at the birthplace of Huzarat Mohammad? Ask this question to Muslim clerics, scholars and politicians?

Started by minorities, then dominated by majority
by Bikash Biswas on Sep 20, 2013 12:51 PM  | Hide replies

It is a common pattern that the riots are started by minority communities and then retaliated by majority. And the minorities ultimately are outnumbered and suffer major casualty. Minorities must learn to mingle with others with open heart.

All these problems are not due to politicians. But it is due to pent up frustrations. When the demography of a place changes and there is too much population of one minority religion the others feel threatened. The Jats being violent people just expressed this frustration. The others are being just meek enough to accept things. I see bigger such communal tensions in the future if the Govt does not control the population of both the minorities and the majority.

very ture shuba.. i also do not understand why the govt is not doing anything to control population. 50 years back there was so much ads on family planning but now now!! it is all for fear of losing votes of muslims. but in the larger interest of the country, we should strictly enforce FP. otherwise no amount of infrastrutre is going to suffice. and no amount of farm produce - to feed all. no party talks on FP now.

Am I to assume that MP, Chhattishgarh, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttarakhand, HP, Jharkhand, Karnataka where BJP majority existed or still exists are all inside Gujarat?

Pluralism
by Radhakrishnan on Sep 20, 2013 11:42 AM  | Hide replies

Everything in the 'Indian' ethos IS pluralistic. Democracy was a natural form of governance for this land because of its cultural values and not because of some 'enlightened' post independence rulers.
Minorities have always been protected like the Parsees who were decimated in their land of origin-Iran.
These facts seem to have been forgotten by many present day commentators!

I agree fully with InnocentM. The fact is that only the Nenru-Gandh! family can protect and preserve the secular and pluralistic nature of India.

That's why people everywhere in India are clamouring for Mr Rahul Gandhi to accept the post of PM.

Ananthamurthy does not respect people verdict and democratic norm, he should shift to Sri Lanka or PAK, if RSS/BJP is not secular-must be banned by this time. Respect people sentiments.

Babri
by arungopal agarwal on Sep 20, 2013 10:39 AM

The way minority attacks on majority firstly on the behest of their leaders, and few minority leaning parties, ultimate are riots only. Deliberately these vote bank politicians kept Babri issue alive else normal voter has forgotten it. Till we do not bar all divisive politicians to contest election-such happenings will continue to occur, initially muslims may feel victory but ultimately being in minority they will be looser.
