her well rehearsed trick of using lingo that appeals to the average middle class reader (her readership is after all hugely drawn from the middle class).
She has carefully couched all that is despicable about India in diversionary words and phrases ('ability to bounce back', 'survival instincts', 'despite heavy odds'.....).
Wonder whether she still retains the same tinge of green colour that she acquired overnight when she heard that Ms.Arundhati Roy won the booker prize!

She's taken a pretty balanced view of India; India has a lot of strengths, and of course much that is awful. She knows that, so why are you so negative and harsh?
very well written shobhaji ! that is what INDIA about - the aam aadmi ,hindi movies ,street food ,the festivals ,the kissan etc yes life never stops in INDIA ,nor a hope for better INDIA ---- INDIA was invaded by MOGHULS, PERSIANS(NIZAMS OF HYDERABAD) THEN MIGHTY BRITISH ,PORTUESGUES(GOA) FRENCH (PONDICHERRY TAMIL NADU ETC)
YET IT BOUNCED BACK from an impoverished nation to an IT powerhouse in services it is serving the world with its diaspora teaching, doing research ,etc
Well said Shobhadeji. So only we are called Bharathiyas. We absorbed alien attack without protest, we sulked terrorist attack without retort, we enjoyed incursion without a single throw out, we have tolerated extremism our own political leaders and greedy industrialists. Still we live happily, treat visiting foreigners with pleasure and book our tickets to go to Mars.

Looks like the author of this article is fascinated only by the material things of life in India. But this is very trivial compared to the spiritual side of India, which no other country can match in the world today, or in the past or the future, forever. After all life is not just about eating, roaming, sleeping , etc. The spiritual consciousness is what keeps India on a high pedestal in this world, always.

But 'spiritual' can also mean qualities like resilience, tolerance and capacity to absorb. "Spiritual" doesn't have to be just metaphysical or deeply philosophical.
