There are times when you disagree with him, but nevertheless he is a hero, an icon. He almost got the Left to rule again, and would have succeeded if CPM had made him a candidate a bit earlier.

he should retire! otherwise the younger elements will not have chance develop to become the top leader! the time have changed! the charecteristics of the working class/ lower middle class has undergone a sea of transformation! from hamali to operators of bulk handling machines, farmers from serf like existence to lease holder/independent farmers, from simple clerical workers to users of computers for assisting in the managing the affairs of the business, the earelier attitude towards them will not help them!

along with age comes senility! it cannot be halped! the requeat is not for just Achuthanandan, but the other sr. leadrs like manmohanji etc.

Whether he retires or not, what is important for common people is that his successor ought to continue in the same vein as he did.

As of now, that successor is nowhere in sight!

And so, VS must continue for as long as he can for the sake of the commoners' interests.

He is the only bulwark at the moment against the numerous forces in the state that are straining at the leash to rob it of its last remaining resources - all in the name of development!

Do you want to keep Kerala in its 18th and 19th century status and anoint VS as King you can wish Achummamma to continue. Then achummamma is the best. He can give bad words to all able to destroy the cultivation and create enimity among people. Please go to Kuttanadu for better understanding. He could able to manage to destroy rice and cocunut trees cultivation in grass rute and he could stop computer revelution or any kind of development. He can fool all his supporters and stepping on their sholders he can put his second class son as HRD director and send him to Maccau for relaxation. Or what ever he wants

If Kerala is still in the 18th or 19th century, then much of Europe too in stuck in those centuries!

And what can you say about states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, AP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Chattisgarh...even Tamil Nadu??

3rd century BC ??

Cunning face kerala ever seen right leader or King for current malayalees. One of the main reason of Kerala's backwardness and logical illetrecy . Ironically anti-revelutionist, not open for any change or progress. Using every ocation for his fame and false image with inborn capabilities to fool malayalies. Leader of hiprocrite, illogical malayalies who belive opposing everything is wisdom and pretend that they are the best in all world but and in reality lacking basic common sense by proposing 30Mtr express high way and more interested in days long unwanted channel discussions and overlooking the personal life who ever come across and keep blind on his own wrong doing. A true coward society who never willing to take any decision to change only good to do slave work out side Kerala and do not willing or allowed to work in Kerala by way of trade unionisum and hippocracy and false pride. Slaves of Political parties, with wicked mentality towards women and children with pretention as Harichandra.Dear fellow malayalees please come out from the foolish world and slavery. These kind of leaders are good only for them and media monarchs. Please call the real leaders like Raju Narayana Swami, Rishiraj, Giji Thomson, K.M. Roy etc. We can prosper if we want to come out of cage (slavery)
A fellow malayalee

If you are a malayali, then choose to write in Malayalam (in the Roman script).

If you are not, then write in whichever language you are comfortable in.

Either way, you will be more intelligible!

Unfortunately for you, no survey on Human Development or Social development in the various states of India agrees with you!

Kerala is frequently compared to European countries such as Denmark, Norway, etc. on these parameters!

Conversely, the allegedly fast developing states of India (Maharashtra, Gujarat, AP, etc.) - forget about basket cases such as Bihar, UP, Jharkhan, Chattisgarh, MP, Orissa, etc. - remain worse than the worst Sub-Saharan Arican nations!

And if there is no human and social development, of what real use is the term development to the commoner?

Please ask all political parties to provide their game plan fo next one year 5 year 10 year for Kerala with budget and resposibility against that only we need to vote. And allow Police to function by its own and make changes in the law to make sure the all the criminals in the government servents should be punished at least twise than the common public( for police 3 times). Not to give cheap publicity to leaders make sure management to the executives and ledership to the political leaders. Not to allow any political interference from the daily management. Fellow members this is our right we are creating leaders we are feeding executives. It is
our right kindly exercise your right

Achu Mamman will be the last CPI (M) comrade
by KRISHNAN on Oct 20, 2013 02:44 PM  | Hide replies

He is truly a communist leader actually stood for the poor and downtrodden community of Kerala. He has led many strikes for the workers uniions in Kerala. He is a lone fighter within the party and now is like a teeth gone Lion. Some of his latest struggle in rape cases attracted criticism that after coming to power , he forgot all the cases for which there were lot of noices and propaganda during earlier election. His name also got spoiled by his sons misdeeds and taking undue benefits from the government. This is still a mistery. As you know in Kerala at top level for compromising certain corruption and cases congrss and CPM are in hand and glows. They have a mutual understanding at the topmost levels and forgo and forgive each other by fooling the public. They know very well that, there is no competetor for them. So if Congrs rule 5 yers the other 5 yrs will be of CPIM. Kerala has become a 100% consumer state thanks to both the Parties. It survive becoz of the huge NRIs population and their huge remittances. The state is facing accute financial crisis now. Though there are about 44 rivers in Kerala and blessed with abundant rain fall, there is scarcity of drinking water every where in the state. Actually Muslim Leage, Kerala congrss -Mani are ruling the state presently and there is huge corrpuption everywhere.

The recent solar case and the struggle in Trivandrun is the latest proof. After Solar, there has been duping and cheating cases for about 1000 crores, Media is giving no importance since there are no female like Shalu Menon or Saritha Nair involved. These cheats were powerful men.

His son was not really involved in any misdeed (you are referring to the Sandalwood case, aren't you?).

His son's innocence was admitted in the Assembly by none other than the most shrill among VS's crtics - VD Satheesan!

Did not get to hear about this?

That the muxlim league and the KC (M) are ruling by proxy is very much evident.

So common Keralites ought to throw both these parties and their benefactor - the Congress - out of power and bring back Achu Mamman to be CM (and not the Congress party carbon copy that goes by the name of the BJP)!

by samson aseervatham on Oct 20, 2013 02:33 PM  | Hide replies

He and late Karunakaran spoiled all the development of Kerala.Kerala is backward and scores high in drinking habit. He has clean habits and his wife is a nurse. Credit goes to her for maintaining his physical health.Let him retire from politics . Educated persons must take political and administrative posts. Not the literate ones so democracy is a failure in India

More than education you need common sense to be of real use to society. Not the kind of highly educated puppet like MMS.
