Electricity supply has been stopped since in the morning. Heavy rain and wind speed now 100km/hour. Let see what will happen after 6.00 pm when center of the cyclone will hit Odisha coast. We are well prepared now compared with 1999 Super Cyclone. State government has done a great job.

Od Isha is facing a severe cyclone after many years.it will. Be interesting to know what measures have been taken to mitigate severity for example has the mangrove area increased to vulnerable areas..how many more cyclone shelters put up
Due to advance warning of many agencies lot of precautionary steps have bee taken..all the defence forces police forces should stay for one more day to assess the damage take images and some organisations like IMD and universities should analyse data dispassionately. And give out suggestions

Can anybody clarify the difference between cyclonic storm and tornado. My knowledge is limited to the former starts from sea and the latter in the land. I have heard the land induced tornadoes are more destructive than cyclonic storms as mostly the it weakens by the time it reaches the land

Tornadoes are land originated depressions which rotate clockwise or counter clockwise and are few metres in diameter . They fizzle out after travelling a certain distance . Their movement although predictable to a large region are unpredictable to detect ,they can change directions .

Tropical cyclone ( hurricane or typhoons it is called in some regions ). Are larger ans taller in diameter and are more destructive

This Is my layman understanding .
