It is a very unfortune that our police and rulling Govt not able to control these incidents in our society particukarly on women and chtldrean. Most of the ATM in the country is not having security persons to gaurd the ATMs. People enter freely when the ATM is being operated by other persons. I personnally brought to the Notice of SBI bank at Nallakunta, Vidhyanagar Br,The manager told me that the authorities not sanction the security of the ATM to Gauard. This is the fate for all the problems. No Govt agency is working and particularly the Law and Order implimenting Agencies. At ltleast the Home Ministry should step in to give strict instruction that No banking operation either ATM or Bank Premises should be having Security personela and While ATMs in operation by person no other person should enter unless his transaction is over.Particularly in Hyderabad is more unsafe conditions are exsisting. I request the Commissioner Police Should take quick and strict action on Banks Whose ATMs and Bank Premises are not having enough Security personnel with arms. GUNESH MUSTI. Hyderabad
First of all I wish the unfortunate lady a speedy recovery. I think the main cause of this increasing crime rate is the vast difference in economic and social status in our society that has been increasing at a dramatic rate after liberalization and is now increasing more rapidly. We can see it in our surroundings where urban poor and their children are living on streets with no hope for present or future and on the other hand 1-2 crores houses and flats(that are normal now in cities like Bangalore)and every luxury car worth its name in the world is being driven in front of them. This is especially true of cities like Bangalore, where I live, which has benifited the most by the IT revolution and income dispatirities have grown drastically. I think India is the only country in the world which has most number of poor in the world and the number of billionares is also very very high, which speaks for the disparity among people and the growing frustration. In fact given the level of disparity, India is still a very calm and quiet country, which is because of its great people.
cctv footage may help in viewing - but security lapses are not called for - all atms cctv footages need to be monitered round the clock at a security point by security personel and bank officials concerned - atm security needs attention of public to come forward and help bank officials and bank customers in maintaining security at atms in safeguarding public money -
none want to go to bank and draw cash but opt for ATM cards. we pay for progress, this is not the first tim ATM user has been attacked or cheated. If this is the case in metros, what is the fate in suburban towns? will the bank be held responsible to the attack? time proper security is provided in ATM booths with young guards. If a security guard can not be provided at the location, the room containing the ATM be designed to allow only one person at a time after a valid card is swiped. Un-guarded ATMs should only operate from 9AM to 5PM on working days. The rolling shutter should be locked in open position when it is opened and only an authorized person should be able to close it. A dedicated phone line and/or an emergency button should be provided in such locations in case of emergency.
