Giving Bharat Ratna at a time when 5 stat is going to poll for electing Govt and Election for National Govt is just few month away is causing a concern.There is no doubt about the mastership in the field of them but they are there for so long years . And the present govt is in power for last ten years. why the have waited for election to come at door. i think just because they want to utilize the popularity in state and national level election.it is not the matter of recognition and reward but using them for their election benefit. Can you think they have change the criteria .This confirms that they not doing any thing for country and people of country but for just grabbing the power. this has to be understood by people and people of this country will show them wise enough . we are

Chemistry is not a field of engg. He should promote all science and engg.
The "real heroes" of any country (particularly India) are its Soldiers and Scientists who literally dedicate every moment of their lives not only to serve their personal interests but society (nation and planet) at large. Sir CNR Rao aptly deserves the "Accolade" for all his dedication, hard work, vision and immense contribution towards science. It's a special moment of pride and elation for people like me who also belongs to the same institute as the Dignitary.
decades of hardwork, let it be in any field, and its impact on the society should be the sole criteria in deciding to bestow the highest award. prof. getting this award is meaningful and justified. probably not the case with sachin. there is no denying his contribution to the game. but still, are all 1.3 billion indians bother about this game or does it affect their lives? sometimes, it can be argued in other way like when rajiv, indira and mgr can get bharat ratna, why not sachin?
It was high time India recognized its Scientists &Engineers contributions to society. Prof Rao may have kept left profile unlike others, his scientific achivements speak volumes.. Congratulations Sir...
