Till we do not doubly punish the bribe taker, things will not improve, People are forced to give bribe for two reasons. 1. not to create nuisance due to powers given to govt. servants. 2. to give favours to individuals. In this case, unable to underestand, how this brilliant candidate has come in trap to give bribe. But bribe at local level to recruit in Police, govt. deptts, army, railway is very very common. In UP, Bihar, and few other States, bribe on promotion, transfers etc., is also common. But at this level-little difficult to digest the concept.
Its strange to hear that Engg.qualified responsible person paying bribe to get big position he and his associates must face the trial and also need to bring change in system.

secular education has nothing to do with the moral and ethical standards of any individual. This is not the first time when educated people from well known institutions like IITs have been arrested. The need of the hour is to inculcate a strong base for moral and ethical standards in the primary education stage itself. Some thing similar to WHAT SATHYA SAI institutions are doing.
