The man who did this turnaround to the otherwise BSNL/MTNL monopoly was called PRAMOD MAHAJAN.
The entire turnaround happened in the five years of NDA government.
Guess what, ur fav CON party even did a scam on this one as soon as NDA receded. The scam is called 2G scam.
Wake up, smell coffee, stop lying becoz ur grandpa thinks it is still Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's party. It is now Phoney-a, Anto-nia, Man-mauniya scam incorporated.

A strong dictator with a right motive can do world of good for the country and keep its neighbours away from instigations and misadventures. Where as a weak and puppet democrat can make the country so spineless that its smallest neighbour also gets encouraged to poke and bite it. Rise above caste & religion and think of the country.
