I am a Hindu and try to acquire as much knowledge as possible of all religions and their leaders. One thing that stands out as to WHY so many of CURRENT Hindu Spiritual icons have such extravagant outward show and pomp. e.g Mr.Ravishankar,Ayur ved baba who is all the time in the news( I cant recall his naam) and so many of the Dayanands and Nityanands and other Nands and their Akharas.Makes me REALLY wonder!!!!

Hi Partha,
A disease free body and a prejudice free mind is what a person requires. This was stated by a spiritual icon who you had named. If you really want to understand this you need to practice it.
There are many spiritual icons in other religions too who have deviated.
The Mind is difficult to control; any person can deviate from his path and may result in something disastrous.

All religions are creation of man!

Religions are a form of slavery of the mind!

When you give up ignorance and blind faith, you will attain true enlightenment!

Unfortunately, we humans have weaknesses and are prone to being desperate for material things!

We dig the very holes we fall into from time to time to satisfy our needs!

Since it is not humanly possible to get out of these troubles we create for ourselves, we seek divine help!

This help mostly comes in the form of organized religion which is headed and controlled by people who want to take advantage of our insecurities!

If you truly want to live a blessed life, don't hurt you fellow humans, be good to everyone and learn to live within your means!

Most, if not all, your troubles will go away!

If you still want to believe in a higher power, do it out of love and gratitude not out of fear or selfishness!

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is not a sannyasi or a religious head, only a yoga master.

His yoga courses have helped millions and he has done a lot to help and empower the poor and unprivileged everywhere.

He is indeed trying to advertise his courses so that maximum people will benefit from it and be able to empower themselves.

If people want to criticize him or other such masters, first let them open an ngo or trust, wipe out the poverty and inequalities in their own village or town at least and then get the right to criticize him.
