The New Pope and his choices
by Melanie Kumar on Mar 14, 2013 01:48 PM  | Hide replies

This is just information on the new Pope and one has an option to not read it, instead of spewing hate comments. There are many issues of significance with regard to this Pope; his choice to be named after St. Francis of Assisi and his decision to not stand on a pedestal above the other Cardinals. As a Cardinal his opting to live in a simple apartment and giving up his limousine to travel by bus, are laudable indeed. When so many men of religion live like kings, this is something to be appreciated. There is so much to be learned from this article and this new Pope regardless of which religious denomination one belongs to.

Fact #8 mentioned is incorrect.
He selected the name in honour of St. Francis of Assissi, since he was a lover of poor.

I have earlier noticed you giving very balanced comments on many topics. In the first place, Rediff cannot at all do any direct marketing of conversion in this forum ( What....with people like you and many others on the board !! ) If the present Dalai Lama also relinquished his post and a NEW Dalai Lama was installed, would it not be ALSO REPORTED by Rediff ?? How many Tibetan exiles live in India ?? I am sure they are less in number than the number of Christians in India !! I am not arguing because I am a Christian !!
