Normally, growth or criteria of developing is based on the GDP calculation. The method adopted in western countries for calculation of GDP is not valid for Asian countries alike India, where food items get prepared by inputing much efforts by housevives/homemakers. Since in western culture where everything is bought readymade so all value addition done before this is accounted in the Gross Domestic Production value. But in case India, people prepare many food/eatable items only at house so value added at house by homemakers are not accounted by the present system of calculation of GDP. You may surprice to know that in some houses the wheatfloor is also made at house from wheat. Then preparing the roti etc. These type of items are roti, bhakhari, Rotla,(indian bread), Dhosa, Upama, Pulav, Papad, Pickels, various snacks preparation etc. The value added by women at house in these items are not accounted in to the GDP. So GDP calculated in India without accounted this can not comaprable with the western style of living style. As parameter of developed one or not is sometime based on the energy used per capita is taken in account but this shall not be a good parameter to promot. Because in some country people are wastin much amount on energy for their normal living std. So if you waste more energy you are much more developed. And also consuming the resouces of people of other parts of world. Ultimately,day by day developled people are becoming cause of scarcity of natural resoure
