why blame everything to congress. You know environmentalists were against linking of river as it would disturb the environmental balance in the area. And taking Ganga or Yamuna to TN or other south states is not an easy thing as it seems on paper.

When mega scams running in lacs of crores is possible for your ever innocent favourite political party then why not linking of rivers by a well planned network of canals, but again then this money will be spent for the well being of the people of the nation and will not be malaciously deposited in the personal bank accounts of these ruling party ministers

Tamil Nadu has enough rain and water. We lack conservation and plan to increase ground water. Lakes are filled and built up. Chennai alone receives more rain than Los Angeles, USA. But most of the water gets into Koovam river a real water source converted to septic tank due to poor sanitary practice..
We have lost Noyyal, Palar, and many rivers within the state... and we steal river sand created by nature over 1000s of years.
we should stop to intervene in the sphere of nature. Nature is on its revenge. We have made houses on the riverbed. Actually it was river's space. It is high time now.

its very easy to preach. with growing population, sooner or later people have to expand the boundaries of cities, else where would you live if you have to limit the boundaries of cities

True. We need local conservation and zonal laws preventing construction around sources of water. .. create a system of lakes to store excess water.. and increase underground water levels
