urban cities in India
by praveen gupta on Jul 05, 2013 06:29 PM

I have observed the cities growing for last 50 years. They have all grown in one way i.e.CHAOS. I am convinced that we are incapable of managing our cities because we try to develop them on Western Models, not fit for we Indians

Mild-natured Mumbaikars

Look at how we in Mumbai tolerate the indifferent attitude by BMC(MCGM) year after year. BMC/MCGM come out with new and novel excuses for water logging. Huge amounts of taxpayers' money is spent on projects but citizens continue to suffer.

Mumbai rains
by GAN on Jun 20, 2013 11:06 AM

Get the advice of any well-managed municipal administration in the world and start a water conservancy project by recharging water into the ground. It should be possible to do so. The next project for IIT-ians is to save rain water surplus and divert it to huge channels to be distributed to parching areas of the country and sell it.

do we have courage?
by Abhijit on Jun 17, 2013 09:05 PM  | Hide replies

There is no point in blaming BMC.
60% people of Mumbai live in slums and some more in slum like areas.
They are all ecroachers. They are staying illegally on govt or pvt property.
Do we have courage to move out them?

BMC is the only authority and supposed to deal with encroachment. When Kairnar tried to demolish, he was transferred and chargsheeted
