yes.Today only telecom ,tomorrow,everything down the drain.With collection of 176000 crores in 2008,the fate would have been like 3G.No mobile services.

Indian economy sucks due to CAG and Supreme Court!
120 2G license were cancelled by Supreme Court without recourse for the impacted parties - No Guarantee for those companies starting/doing Business in India which leads to Trust deficit on Indian Govt.
The 3G license were highly priced and hence 3G plans are highly priced by the telecom companies and no takers/customers except few smart phone users. Telecom companies are not able to migrate to new technologies and got stuck with 2G - Thanks to CAG & Rai
The entire world is moving is towards 4G and we are still ringing with 2G
I would suggest Mr Rai to spend more time on the trade deficits related policies to balance/contain them rather doing a postmortem job. The loss claimed by Mr Rai is getting penalized into the common people which adds burden on the common people in terms of price hike
Let the Govt loose money (instead of sucking further) at the cost of benefit for its people, who cares and why there is a so much of hue and cry

Such institutions keep an eye on the policy, procedure, system etc., identifies loopholes suggests corrections and in turn ensures the system functions properly and best utilization of resources for the betterment of society. Blaming them is not a good idea. Business houses come for profit not for betterment of society. There should be check and balances for their unscrupulous activities. Supporting unethical business houses aiming windfall gains is certainly unacceptable. You may be aware the Supreme Court dismisses a lot of applications against government and interferes only when they found established system and procedures are not followed and foul play. Coming to the point that the auction of 2G in 2010 not realised the expected revenue is due to many causes. As identified by Mr Rai the global recession is one of the cause but the most important cause is the cartel formed by cell cos and their friends in the government. Government used the opportunity to prove that they are not at fault because they waited for such opportunity.

Mr. Samraj, Do you how much profit these telecom companies have been making till now. The call rates were slashed due to competitive pricing by reliance (40p/call) and not due to license cost reduction. Telecom companies are not going to reduce prices whatever may be the license cost unless forced to do so due to competition from other companies . Mr. Rai is retired now, so I suggest you to direct your recommendations on what he should do to the current CAG chief. I think you don't know that CAG's role & purpose is to do post mortem only as is the role of any audit process. Improve your knowledge before commenting on complex issues. Little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
A very fine an honest gentleman ,transparent and discharged his duties deligently.Country needs such persons of high and rare caliber ,intelligence persons with guts for standing up to pressure.
