Bharat, agree that if no corruption India would have progressed a lot. But Cong made sure no civil war happened or a chaotic situation like in Pak. That will not be the case if some one divisive coming at the helm. And as far as corruption is concerned, whoever ruled were corrupt with many scams. So, do not expect if some one come to power corruption will go. In some states even the minister is selling water of public to pvt parties and making money.
For several years now, there has been excess production of food grains. What UPA is trying is restore the balance by bringing in a much needed Food Scarcity scheme.

_rediff loves to_sex_up congressi agenda with misleading photos. here we have a photo of heartless farmers sitting around sea of grains as if they have no market to sell them in, and that all that must just be given away. as ms._thatcher siad so eloquently that the problem with spending other peoples' money is that you eventually run out of them - meaning, then you have a bankrupt nation. here is my theorem: nobody ever got rich from a govt handout; but you certainly can join the ranks of poors eventually when the govt spends your taxmoney.
