Roopa Unnikrishnan is not extraordinary in anything, or has she been innovative. She is a just a Rhodes scholar without any major contributions at the international level. On top of it she says she is a "Hindustani at heart" after taking up United States citizenship and renouncing Indian citizenship. India sometimes produces the world's best hypocrites who receive enormous publicity for nothing.

The writer recounted her past and what the present is for her, but the article did not resonate with the main theme she started with. She sounds excited about being a US citizen, but then provides a confused apology for the same. Thought she will say something more substantial than "... Dil Hain Hindustani ...". That's very cliche and nothing unique to print about.
Quite frankly, the article simply smacks of blatant self-promotion and showing-off about herself and her husband. That's ridiculous and puerile!

The truth is that when people like her get a shortcut to fame and fortune at the expense of someone else (in this case her hubby), they loose sense of the fact that their new found arrogance and naivety is easily apparent to others. Firstly, it is bizarre that her husband is where he is for no rational reason! But we know that happens. Secondly, she has just quickly learnt to show the NY high-life and talk the talk by virtue of tagging along with her spouse. Yes, there is no reason or justification for what she is saying or doing!
At least she should be modest about where she has landed and try to preserve her precarious status by not blabbing gibberish.
