When will India have its Tahrir Square? When a million people come out and kick out MMS, SG-2 and Doggy Sing. 2014 can't come soon enough.

Democratic elections don't mean that they can just do whatever they want once elected ..

and that's what the shamelessly corrupt Indian Government's been doing.

Morsi INEPT, Bad precedent. Sharif be Cautious
by shali vahana on Jul 04, 2013 12:51 PM

Morsi has proven to be inept, he has not learned from Erdogan. Nearly a decade ago when Erdogan came to power his situation was somewhat similar to that of Morsi, but Erdogan did not confront the military nor did he impose his world view of Islam on whole country with sweeping changes. He strengthened the economy, made the middle class prosperous, and in the process started slowly to chip away the edifice of the Ataturk state, and in the process defanged the military. He did all this with public opinion on his side. Now Erdogan has became a democratic dictator of Turkey.

Coming back to Morsi, his removal sets a dangerous precedent for upcoming democracies. Tomorrow, any elected leader, however unpopular, can be removed by army with support of opposition and public opinion ? Morsi and Islamic Brotherhood did not learn the game, nor were adept at playing democratic politics. They tried to move too fast without public support. They thought 52% vote is a big mandate to make sweeping radical changes, that too with dire financial situation, rising prices, and an entrenched and uncooperative bureaucracy. Even Salafi's went against them. It is also a lesson to all budding Islamic Republic parties who wants to use democracy to impose their own Islamic world view on others. This is not 60's or 80's, the TV and Internet has changed the world politics and people's aspirations forever.

Nawaz Sharif need to be cautious before taking on the Military.

Crowd Showing Cross As Victory Sign
by Bigtribe on Jul 04, 2013 12:44 PM

Heartening to notice the protesting crowd showing cross as their victory sign.

Elements of parochialism, communal and divisive politics is not acceptable to the Egyptians.

Better Indian public take a cue from these protesters.
