Cultural heritage/Military might?
by daniel thorat on Jan 26, 2013 02:16 PM  | Hide replies

Cultural heritage it just can`t be, unless we believe that what the British gave us in the form of our military is "culture". Military might also need not be seen but felt and experienced. Actually, what really happens is that when so many soldiers, their weapons, big rockets and vehicles and leader jeeps carrying commanders and then smartly saluting the VVVVVVIPs, pass in front of our eyes, we as normal human beings are filled with an awe of the sheer sight. Then we think and realize that it is our armed forces, and price feels our hearts. That is an awesome sight and it can create a patriotic upsurge in our people. That is indeed good. But, if we simply have a big procession of a million people walking on the Delhi road, or a million young men, or a million children or m/cycles or even a million cattle pass before us as one group, we shall be awe struck as well. For making us into lasting patriots, things need to be actually done - good and fast justice, good and fast and clean police, judiciary, schools/colleges, shops etc.etc. When all that first happens, then this 26 Jan show becomes nothing more than a wasteful exercise, causing tremendous work load on our forces, and our finances. If the costs incurred on these shows during past 60 odd years were to be saved and spent on that many towns/villages, they would have changed dramatically.

It is absoluuute wastagge of tax payers money&must be used to build roads, infra strcutre, schoools, hodpistals in triabl areas&NOT waste for the shows!Do not forget the great contribution of mkgandhee the british double agent who colluded with bitish to use nonviolcne to brainwash and fool all hindoooos and made them morrons&ennuchs forever and this allowed the britihs looters to trillions and trillions of dollars wihtout getting hurt or killed too!Remember crooked westreners prasise mahatma and nonviolence 24 hours a day, BUT use violence 24 hours a day for the past 2000 years including past 200 years too! What a shame, india must cut all trade and cultural and diplomatic ties with UK and Insist on getting back trillions of dollars woth gold&assets looted from us for the past 500 years too! What a shame that we have NOT taken any action against the crooked britishers who continue to treat as slaves and untouchables and fools even now! What a shame!

Britain has paid back most of the loot by accepting Indian People as citizens. More than a million Indians have made UK their home and have enjoyed hundreds of billions of pounds worth of UK Services, quality of life and other luxuries. I think we are even in terms of money. What has not been extracted is compensation for the death of every Civilian in the freedom struggle. UK owes the descendants of Jalianwala Bagh tragedy billions of rupees as compensation for cold-blooded murder.

The Independence of India could never have been achieved without Mahatma Gandhi.Your trillion looters were forced to yield. If there is one decent country that gave India its railways, postal network, education, hospitals, judicial system and the British law itself, it the
Great Britain of the United Kingdom. Before them, Mughals ruled India for over 88 years, but we cannot see any worthwhile thing left by them except "adab"=courteous behaviour, biryani, music, The Taj Mahal and certain values. We need the UK more than they need us but we do not need the Mughals.

For whose benefit is this annual tamasha staged? Do we have to parade our military strength in front of the world? Come to think of it, can we really, repeat really, protect our borders?

America tested LSD and radiation contamination on their own citizens. Thousands have perished without compensation. We are far better.
Had a Jawan been near the girl who was attacked, he would surely have saved her. It is not possible to prevent crimes that occur on the spur of the moment, we can only punish the guilty, and our judiciary is doing just that.

At least we have roads even in the poorest of districts. Afghanistan's best cities are worse than the worst faeces filled canal of a backward district in India. If you are an Indian, I wish you relocate to Afghanistan for a few years to appreciate India.

Although your views are true,it is increasingly clear that our govt/politicians are ever reluctant to use these forces. If our armies never fight because of our effeminate policies, then there will be nothing for which we can look up to them for bravery, courage, sacrifice etc. etc. I really do not know if there is any other democracy-fouting country in the world who blows away crores of rupees on such show offs.

America spends billions of dollars on spying on their own citizens, and have spent hundreds of millions of dollars testing poisons on their own citizens. We are better than America in this regard, this "show off" deters our neighbors from conventional attack. Agni-V would make close enemies pee in their pants.
