Tainted officials should not be awarded Padma awards
by gudalore rao on Jan 26, 2013 01:36 PM  | Hide replies

My grievance is with respect to awarding Padma Sri to Dr J Gowrishankar under Science Category for the year 2013. I, under RTI, had unearthed huge corruption and misappropriations of public money by Dr Gowrishankar at CDFD Hyderabad. Based on the RTI information provided by CDFD, I had lodged a complaint with CBI Court at Hyderabad. The CBI Court having convinced itself of the prima facie material lodged by me, directed CBI Hyderabad to investigate Dr Gowrishankar and others for such corruption. Even the CBI went to AP High Court for some clarification on this matter and the High Court too upheld the orders of the Spl CBI Court at Hyderabad. Presently Dr J Gowrishankar is facing investigation by the CBI Hyderabad for his inactions.....I strongly protest to his inclusion for a Padma Award as he is a tainted official....Therefore please remove his name from the list or else it will be deemed that the Govt of India promotes corrupt officers and corruption.....

Padma Awardees not Winners
by suman sinha on Jan 26, 2013 12:29 PM  | Hide replies

The awardees should not be called winners. They are nominated persons selected on pick and choose basis and whims and fancies of some babu/ politico. They should be called awardees as there was no competition where it was open to all indians and then rated on a uniform validated scale. There will be many more worthier indians who never make to these lists as they do not have sponsors among babus and politicos. Hope there is a uniform rating of all citizens on some validated yard stick and then only this list could be called 'winners'

Fully agree. The selection is far from fair. It is always 'political'. Great, but not on the right side of the establishment, will never make it.

Congress gives top seat to great intellect...
by Varsha on Jan 26, 2013 12:21 PM

Singh has always been perceived as a man of clean background. He is seen as a man of few words. The Independent described him as "one of the world's most revered leaders" and "a man of uncommon decency and grace," noting that he drives a Maruti 800, one of the humblest cars in the Indian market. Khushwant Singh lauded Singh as the best prime minister India has had, even rating him higher than Jawaharlal Nehru. He mentions an incident in his book Absolute Khushwant: The Low-Down on Life, Death and Most things In-between where after losing the 1999 Lok Sabha elections, Singh immediately returned the 2 lakh (US$3,600) he had borrowed from the writer for hiring taxis. Terming him as the best example of integrity, Khushwant Singh stated, "When people talk of integrity, I say the best example is the man who occupies the country's highest office.

TH GREATEST PM IN THE CURRENT SCENARIO, MMS is biggest and cleanest leader the world has now.

Jai hey !

Fashion designing and Padma Shri
by sarkar on Jan 26, 2013 11:23 AM  | Hide replies

How a fashion designer can get a Padma Shri? I thought these awards are for those who have contributed to the improvement of the human society.
How can a fashion designer designing strange clothes serving only the affluent class of the society with a pure business motive can get such a prestigious award?

I don't know why Padman Bhushan is given to Sridevi and other film actors/actresses? What they have done for India? And also doubt that Padma awards are sold atleast a good part of it.

Its sad that we are cribbing over states instead of congratulating the deserving winners of the awards whose lifetime of hardwork and dedication in their chosen fields have received national appreciation. While I am neither from Punjab or Manipur, I am paricularly happy for Late Jaspal Bhatti and Ms. Mary Kom winning the recognition. They have been trendsetters in their fields.
