The major reason for all the lack of law and order in India is simply this : the police to population ratio is just 130 per 100000 people, well below the minimum police strength of 222 per 100000 people recommended by the UN.
Law and order is needed for healthy progress of the country in all sectors, and this is essentially provided by a good and effective police force.
All developed and progressive nations have a very good police to population ratio. France (356), Germany (298 ),Great Britain( 307 ), U.S.A (256),Spain (511),Belgium(373), Malaysia (370),Singapore(752) are examples.
Good law and order ensures a healthy society and a good background for economic development as well for obvious reasons.
If India aspires to be a developed nation, it should first increase the police to population ratio from its measly 130 at present to at least the UN recommended minimum police strength of 222.
Otherwise all these crimes and protests will keep on happening without any end at sight.

The Indian government need not get tense and worried about the costs of maintaining a 222 strong police to population ratio, as the strong economic development that comes with good law and order will more than compensate for the greater investment in the policing sector.
Shame that tulers and intellectuals and media have NOT thought of long term steps to prevent eve teasing&rapes,etc To prevent eve-teasing of grils and women and to prevent rapes, there must be WELL planned measures& NOT just talk ONLY, what a shame!There must be special buses &special compartments in trains for girls and women only and they should be driven by female drivers and there msut be woman conductors and woman assistants to help them too, NO OTHER solution to eve teasing in delhi&rapes too, Further there must be majority women constables in police stations&separate women wing in each police station and police stations controlled by women ONLY and with no men! Double or triple the number of police women and number of women- only police stations too all over india now! Lastly Ban Bollywood,kollywood,regional cinemas, Obscene Media TV ads, TV dance shwos,etc which provoke and make us an eve-teasing&rape Nation too! RSS,VHP&BJP can implement the above measurs i BJP ruled states and show to the world how to protect the honour of women and to protect them from eve teasers,rapiists,etc,etc
No short-term measures will work&rapes and molettions will continue forever,folks!Sadly our culture is made now by bollywood films, kollywood films and regional language films whcih make us a nation of eve-teasers and rapists! what a shame! Shame our women rights activists and human rights activists and intellectuals are acting as cheer leaders of crooked rulers and looters and bollywood actors and actresses for the past 50 years! It is time that rulers study the reasons for harassment, teasing and violence against girls and women and not make knee jerk reactions only!We need to take more aggressive and logical steps to prevent crimes and rape,etc agsinst women and girls and not just knee jerk reactions,folks! All women and girls are not angels and sometimes they are willing accomplices too! Shame that india has not banned Bollywood and useless and poverty-producing Test cricket even now! Just watch the bollywood and kollywood moveis and one can see the heores openly teasing and harassing girls and women and this has been going on for past 50 years and more too! To prevent rapes and sexual exploitation and harassment of women all over india, first and foremsost bollywood and kollywood movies and masala serials in TV channeles, and obscene and provocative advertisements makins girls and women as sexx objects all the time etc MUST be Banned, No other easy solution to prevent rapes and sexual exploitation and harassment of women now, is any one listening???
