I have studied these comments carefully. Most of the comments are correct. What wrong has said by Subhe Singh, Vibha Rao, Kailash Vargiya and Mohan Bhagwat. There should be a self discipline. We cannot blame for every thing to govt./ society. Mr Verma ex-member of RAW has given a data that in USA, UK AND Sweden the rape case is 32,26 and 25 respectively in each country out of one lac. But in India it is i.6 out of one lac. If we can't control our childs particularily female we also cross 30 within short time. What is wrong to ask your childs to dress properly and reach home timely to avoid these unwanted incidents.

hmm .. and just how do you propose to stop rapes against ladies who decide to travel alone or unaccompanied in the night ?Can you have a law to control human instinct ? Males are naturally physically stronger than females and in case there are more than one females have a very little chance of fighting back. Why don't you see the statements with a logical mind instead of generally giving a biased comment ? In Islamic countries/religion women are completely covered and their movements are very restricted. So what is wrong if someone make suggestions for time limits or females having company when moving out late ?
There needs to be a social revamping thats required in India right from childhood:
1) Encourage boys and girls to work and play together. Do not segregate boys from girls in terms of the kind of activities they can do, what they can play etc. In short stop stereotyping
2) Allow adolescent boys and girls to work and study together in schools and colleges, with limits drwan and consequences thereof clearly spelt out
3) Women should get over shyness and boys should get over the tendency to view girls as objects of curiosity. This should happen on a broader scale
If the society evolves in this manner, there will be no discrimination between men and women in work place and so called "harrasment" may have no meaning whatsoever.
Until such time, enforce strict punishments against those who engage in women abuse in any form
Indian society at large should declare the following non negotiable "social" rights for women:
1) To walk safely on roads alone anytime - no special safety needed just because she is a woman. She should feel as safe as men walking alone on streets in the night.
2) To wear the outfit of her choice and be acceptable and safe. This acceptability should be atleast equal to what men can afford to wear anything of their choice and still feel safe in society
3) To exercise her rights to make a living and live a life of her choice - she should remain independently responsible for her actions.
4) To speak / conduct in the society freely and according to her choice and not be bogged by social expectations and pressures that constrain her to behave in any specific way.
I am sure the consititution allows all these legally but it is the social framework that needs to be conditioned to accept these unconditionally.

Hi, I appreciate what you written. I would like to say that all are having freedom to do anything but for them who knows the law and order' just an example there was film theater, where people were watching movie in that picture one situation was where an elephant got mad, suddenly 2 of audience watching movie they start to run, some people asked them why you both are running, they both guys was too scared and said can't you see elephant got mad' this is just a picture people laugh and replied but that guy said that we know that is picture' but elephant does not know...so girl should not forget wild animal still moving here to there with human faces, little precaution all should have.

I appreciate your view that people should exercise caution but what I wish that happens is - the caution that women exercise should no more be than what typically a man would exercise under similar conditions. That is the hall mark of an empowered and evolved society.
Having no standards, being a loafer hero accepting of crime. Why do you expect better, when your Babus values are so less of cheating ad stealing and lying. From a nation know for its honest its crime free societies, it prosperity, to nation who love and makes criminals into heroes, leaders, and worship such low scoundrels.
Where have gone the standards in men, the high standards of brahmachary which men are suppose to posses self control.Tell why you worship murders, thieves, criminal, what do you expect in society prosperity or poverty?
Asharam's advice to rape-victim is very similar to Mahatma Gandhi's advice to German Jews and Bengali Hindus. In summary, Both,Asharam and Mahatma Gandhi, said that If victim non-violently and courageously faces the attacker then it would result in moral reformation of attacker (a).
This advises are the result of extreme ideological belief in non-violence, nobility, and pacifism. Personally, I would reject this cruel(b) advises lock stock and barrel.
(a) Based on Mahatma Gandhi's letters, and several other public sources like his Biography by B R Nanda, Oxford University Press. (b) Cruel because it puts impossible onus, and resulting failure blame on victim.

A very sensible voice, and well articulated too. Yes, it is the height of unfairness and cruelty to put a person on an impossible and artificial pedestal, which s/he cannot live up to. An example is the way we make goddesses out of women. What obligation does a woman have of exhibiting divine behavior? Why is she not entitled to mortal foibles, the way men are? Why should she be strait-jacketed into an impossible morel code? So that her slippage from that impossible code becomes a good enough excuse to violate her? What a hypocritical society!

Absolutely valid point and I fully endorse. We need a revolution of sorts to clean up the society of these ill attitudes against women. Kudos!
Journalists go and ask political leaders, what is your opinion about Delhi incident, why, how etc. And whatever he or she says becomes news and they become villains.
