Punishment must have three components
by dravidian man on Jan 10, 2013 06:29 PM  | Hide replies

Punishment for crimes against w0men should have three components -

1. Severity - Punishment should be very severe.

2. Certainty - There needs to be certainty that people who commit crimes against w0men will be punished.

3. Swiftness - Punishment should be swift. It should be delivered within 3 months or 6 months at the maximum.

Remove any one of the above and there would be no effective deterrence.

what is wrong
by Pen diamond on Jan 10, 2013 05:38 PM  | Hide replies

I did not find much things to feel ashamed with a lot of these comments. In fact I would agree.
Rape is similiar to robbery. If a women is wearing jewels in the night, Would not she get robbed. Would you not ask people to be more careful in the night similiarly. Wouild you not ask people to not flaunt their jewellery?

And is not everyone entitled to their opinion?

and after he does, next thing he has to save him self so he commits murder..Perfectly normal

And so on..so you say all crime is perfectly normal...very nice!

what about rapes of teenager say a child of 2/4 years? It is shamelessness tto justify Rapes by any argument.Pl think of ur sister/mother/wife and then justify. If u can still justify u r an animal as they do not belive in such relationships.

Your logic is incorrect due to multiple reasons.

First, w0men who do not flaunt can also get raped.

Second, if the thief is caught, the jewels can be returned. Can a w0man be unraped? So rape is a more severe violation.

Pl think twice before making any statement. Do not justify any wrong doing. Remember u become part of the crime if you support/justify

I am not justifying robbery here or rape, but the fact that one can get robbed if one flaunts your jewels.

Mohan Bhagwat on gangrape
by Rajendra Phadke on Jan 10, 2013 04:13 PM  | Hide replies

I strongly protest your mis-reporting of his statements, in both cases. He never used the terms 'rural Bharat'; 'urban India'. He said 'Bharat' to mean a society with proper upbringing - sanskars - and 'India' is where there is westernised culture, lack of traditional value system. He criticised at Indore, that western system of treating marriage as a contract; as opposed to our traditional 'vivah sanskar' - if you can understand it!

Freedom to express
by shrinivasan venkataraman on Jan 10, 2013 04:11 PM  | Hide replies

All in this country are equally eligible to express his or her opinion/view that too when it has taken a national importance. There should be no personal attack if the view/opinion is contrary to one party or other. So do not blame Asam Babu or other but counter with your reasonable arguments

Anything stretch beyond reasonable point will attract resistance. That is what has happened in the present case of gang rape also. Media and some who feel they are reformers and encouraged by English media specially went on denouncing the act of gang rape which has now produced counter view/opinion. Please stop this topic forthwith or you will have more unpleantries. Abu Azmiji can have his own views/opinions on this topic. why shoul any one be angry with this. Instead of attacking him personally give youe reasons and fault him on this.
