According to Hindu Scriptures, nobody is a Brahmin by birth. A person is a Brahmin if he has Brahmin svabhaava. The current birth-based tradition is not approved by our scriptures. For us to move forward, it is best we do away with this nonsense.

Kerala has so many muslims and christians because all the lower castes embraced them because of the massive persecution they faced at the hands of bhramins over many centuries. Kerala has been the bastion of Bhraminism. the shankaracharya was a mallu

Do what you want. Stop blaming brahmins for everything - this is our national hobby. This community is a convenient whipping boy for everything.
Everyone is free to worship the way they like - so go ahead and do it - if NSS "Owns" temples they should also be free to appoint their own priests. But would the members of NSS be able to certify that they do not 'exploit' any one??

But in the first place build your own temple and appoint anybody as your priest Do not remove existing priests for the sake of appointing your people in old temples. Atleast don't create unemployment in priests too.

When the society will stop this? Enough damage has been done to this silently suffering section of the society. It appears that there is a group of people with political back up which is bent upon annihilation of the Brahmin community who have contributed to the cultural, intellectual and spiritual development of the society.Observing the general situation in all parts of the country without any exception one can easily say that INDIA has to undergo more transformation before she aspires to become a world power.

I have to say this from the experience at a local temple near Aluva.

When a Namboodiri priest left his job another one took charge at this temple. The new priest found the Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) too untidy and tried to wash the place. He found that the water was not flowing out due to some clogging in the ovu (passage). He tried to clean up the ovu with some iron rod and guess what came out - Cigarrette stubs !

Now you can think what all the retired priest doing inside the Sreekovil !!

He is still a Brahmin and I am sure no one will ostrasize him ever.

However I do not have an opinion on what NSS suggests, bringing in other castes to do work of priests - it will have an effect of bringing tweedledee in place of tweedledum.

Hullo.. what matters is whether he is doing the rituals properly and in a dedicated manner. These stubs could have been deposited in the ovu / drain by any workers. So don't give a blanket theory that the Brahim priests are that impure, as if the high prients of other religions are as pure as milk.

Time has now been changed. Earlier Brahmins had not been eating non-veg. Is it so now? So why not a Nair can become a priest?

How do you come to the conclusion that the "Brahmin" priest smoked in the temple and put the stubs of all places in the OVU?? Fertile imagination to beat brahmins with another stick. I am not suggesting that all brahmins are good all the time. But that does not mean you can say anything about them.. Brahmins also have to learn to become strong and get aggressive in this society which has used them conveniently to whip every time.
