Now he compares afzal with m k gandhi
by Mr Walker on Feb 23, 2013 09:41 PM

So now they have started comparing sepratists with m k gandhi to gain sympathy and support of people ?

gandhi never advocated separation in fact he was against partition and was duped by nehru, his sympathy towards pakistan later on gained the wrath of people like godse who thought that the nation paid a very heavy price for his mistakes.

Politicizing Justice and nuanced interpretation
by Ramesh on Feb 23, 2013 08:42 PM  | Hide replies

While it is true that rightist forces in India demanded hanging of Afzal Guru, they were not the only ones. Congress leaders including their General Secretary Shri Digvijay Singh wanted hanging of Afzal Guru.

But BJP and particularly Mr. Narendra Modi is surely guilty of making such demand in an election speech. But slanted political commenting on this subject by Mr. Malik is welcome for it may help senior BJP leadership may avoid linking the issue to electoral processes. However, raising the issue as a responsible opposition certainly falls within their political rights. Mr. Malik evidently interprets the nuances from a political perspective which is ok, particularly if such greyness engenders peace in the region.

However wrongful those exhortations to the Central decision making process be, that does not imply the Central decision making process itself was colored by it. The communication on the matter was strictly between Indian President and the Home Ministry, which is an aboveboard Constitutional process.

The great respect for Mahatma, implicit in the statement is most welcome. It implies recourse to peaceful approaches to Kashmir resolution.

JKLF wants to reintegrate the former Jammu and Kashmir territories now under three nations back into a single entity, albeit as an independent nation.

Mahatma surely wanted Jammu and Kashmir to be integral part of India and its citizens enjoy the fruits of freedom to the fullest extent. He also aspired for friendly relationship with Pakistan.

The syncretic ties within Kashmiriyat, it can be rationally argued, are probably better served by adhering to the original instrument of accession, and so is the cause of social, cultural and economic development of the region.

Mr. Malik has framed his viewpoint fully within the framework of Indian Constitution, which is a welcome development, and perhaps a pointer towards long term peace.

Your so called intellectual blabber is full of bias and wrong notions, not only BJP but every other political party wanted Afzal hanged and what exactly are right wing forces anyway ?

What Malik says or his comparison of afzals death with that of m k gandhi is totally wrong.
