Any amount paid to agent in foreign deal more than 1-2% is only for kick backs, in this case 7.5% is paid as commission, certainly kick back is there, like other scams, nothing will happen this too.

Where is Rahul Baba? He must be feeling sorry that his dream of becoming PM is slowly going up in smoke.Wonder when he will open his mouth and make a statement.
Obviously he can't say anthing against Italians.

by Shyamsunderthunoli on Feb 20, 2013 05:17 PM

Some people are great humans but not great leaders. I think the best post for Antony would be President of India. He can be representing of honesty to the world without dong anything. Alteast that will save the face of nation. Out of 100 crore population (Old figure) after Gandhi another honest man in making.

Blacklisting ??
by Sudarshan Nityananda on Feb 20, 2013 05:09 PM  | Hide replies

Whichever party is in power will face a formidable set of difficulties in defence purchases:

a. The items are often of immediate urgency and badly required ( may not be true for the Augusta deal though). hence it is strategically impossible to simply cancel a deal, once made, because a second deal may take a decade to finalise.

b, A defence minister can only threaten to cancel a contract in case of a scam. He can hardly prevent it happening or anticipate it.

c. What price we are paying and whether high or low can be known only when there are multiple vendors . If we keep eliminating vendors as in the 155 mm howitzer negotiations, we will be left with only one vendor who will charge anything he wants.

In the VVIP case we are hardly at the stage where there is solid evidence, so why jump the gun ?

Maybe instead of blacklisting vendors , if the equipement is really good and meets a vital security need like the howitzer, then we could develop a strategy to ask for reparations from the supplier once solid evidence has been found .Maybe the spares costs can be renegotiated. That way we keep the supply chain going and also get back some money in the bargain.

Knee jerk blacklisting will only put us in a soup, especially when our manufacturing and design capabilities are in infancy.

Manmohan & Antony both are honest. That is why Manmohan got Quattrochi's account defreezed, sent wrong documents so that he would be released from Argentina, hid the fact that he was arrested in Argentia from Indian public and later ensured that the Interpol notice is cancelled so that Sri Quattrochi can roam around freely. Mr Antony is also very honest. He only ensured that money is paid to "The Family", has sent CBI to get the issue wrapped, diverted. Manmohan on his part is saying there is nothing to hide, everyone knows who is aThief. All arePIMPS of aPros

Mr.Anthony, our Defence Minister is very good and straight forward person. He cannot live in this bad world. At the same time he is also not firm and ruthless. If you are holding a defence portfolio, you have to be firm and decisive in taking decisions.Mr.Anthony should have been given a agriculture and some other portfolio where nation's security is at not stake.Nobody is questioning the quality of the chopper ordered. It means it is a good quality chopper.By trying to cancel the order, Mr.Anthony is playing into the hands of our enemies. He and his Govt should try and reduce the deal amount instead of cancelling the whole order. This simply does not make any sense.
