Who gained?
by Tom Dick on Feb 21, 2013 10:06 AM

Two days of strike ( hooliganism in some places)and what did we gain out of it other than a colossal revenue loss of over 20000 crores! Some unions blame everything on corporates. Now the question is if we close down all these corporates what would happen? Government cannot start all business and it should not be their job. Government companies are mainly loss making. Who is employing the millions of people in India? Government or private corporates? Trade union leaders call for strikes and destruction of public and private properties and who pays for the loss? tAX PAYERS. tHEY DEMAND HIGHER WAGES EVERY DAY. hIGHER WAGES WILL NOT STOP PRICE RISE BUT ONLY INCREASE IT. What is required is stoppage of food/grain/vegetable wastage. India produces more than enough food but more than half of it goes waste due to poor storage and poor transportation facility. Government should be focussing on better distribution and storage facilities. Given an opportunity to all these workers went on strike to do business, they too will do exactly what the big corporates are doing. That is work to make a profit. What is urgently required is BETTER STORAGE and Distribution of food items. Stopping corruption. That includes bribes taken by big politician to office peons. Improve infrastructures and allow 'non striking' people to go about their normal jobs.

An irresponsible Government
by Ravindran Nair on Feb 20, 2013 05:45 PM

It is roughly calculated that the national revenue loss amounts to Rs.20000 crores.A gigantic sum to lose.An insensitive minoity Govt.at the Centre is solely responsible for this loss. The Govt.is working at the behest of the Corporates and strangulating the common man. They are immersed in necklevel corruption and they have no time to look in to the miseries of the poor. The Unions had served the notice well in advance and the honourable P.M and coterie kept mum over the subject. This dumb Govt.needs such shock treatment.

A costly drama to the nation.
by chanakya maurya on Feb 20, 2013 04:50 PM

The media reports indicate a loss to the nation to the tune of 20000 crores.

Who is going to foot this bill ?

Those who call for such bandhs should be made answerable to the people of Bharatvarsh through the apex, booked, and suitably penalized.

It is a huge nonsense.

A realization
by Muthu Karuppan on Feb 20, 2013 03:58 PM

I appreciate the 10 point charter by the trade union and call for bandh. BUT, is it going to solve the problem? NO. Who is to be blamed for the Inflation and other problems which we face daily ? We ourselves. Are we sensible to wastages ? India is one of the lead producer of fruits and vegetables but what is the use ? 50 percent of the produce is simply wasted and goes to gutters. And we see a mammoth price rice of fruit and vegetables. THINK logically and especially to these bandh lovers, Please stop such non-senses in the name of bandhs. I understand that some 30 percent milk produced is simply wasted. Same applies to every produce. If we can avoid such WASTAGES COUPLED WITH CORRUPTION, there is no need for such stupid charters and anti-poor sponsored bandhs.

Carbon credits
by ganesh pillai on Feb 20, 2013 01:54 PM  | Hide replies

At least it helps in lesser consumption of fuels and ACs in office which otherwise would have been running nonstop.

These hartal people should be given carbon credits and encouraged to do so frequently once a month.

We are saving a lot of natural resources as a result.
