an inward looking policy response is more useful
by Ramesh on Feb 14, 2013 06:54 AM  | Hide replies

PC recently, and earlier MMS have linked economic development to security capability. The reason India is unable to counter China is now better understood as because Chinese economy is several times larger.

Indian policy makers have considered Maoist problem as the greater internal security threat than cross-border terror emanating from Pakistan. Cross-border terror threat has less bearing on Indian economic development, unlike Maoist terror.

The riding rough-shod approach which MMS and other senior leaders have implicitly sanctioned by acceding to dynastic succession in INC is a policy which needs reconsideration.

Earlier, the scion had identified Saffron terror as the greatest terror to India, now he seeks to not just defeat the CPM, but also drive their polity out of India. Such get tough on Left and Right may appeal to those who seek to capture power. Such victory, even if achieved, would be a pyrrhic victory. It can only further accentuate the threat from China.

It is one thing to disagree and quite another to delegitimize opponents. Congress leaders have derailed bi-polar polity by persisting with dynastic arrangement bent on confrontation. Given the grave risk Congress now poses to evolution of healthy Constitutional linkages with Western democracies. It is therefore far safer to have three mainstream political formations .

A billion plus strong India, it seems needs three mainstream political formations, along the lines which Britain had, Conservatives, Labour and Liberals. MMS, during UPA-1 days identified himself as Liberal; a columnist had even used the term neo-liberal!

CPM leadership have shown the courage to sidestep their ideology and encourage market economy. The political dialogue got to deepen to encourage co-option of the whole spectrum of Leftists, including Maoist into democracy. Success in doing so, is perhaps the precondition to deepening economic development of the hinterlands.

A policy of genuine non-alignment appears to be superior option than dependence within a strategic architecture. It would be more effective in warding off risks via diplomatic as well as strategic capability.

Genuine non-alignment would hardly impact economic linkages with developed nations including US. The external investment potential is a function of economic polioy making and kind of infrastructure and opportunities provided in the Indian market.

What is really necessary is an inward looking approach which extends the coverage of and deepens the quality of lawful decision making for socio-economic development by government institutions as well as private sector.

China will continue its coersive policies and we will find ourslves at the receiving end every time. It is the time, we get our acts together and build a strong economy and defence. This is the only way of countering Pak and China.

China

We faught a war with China but India never tried to normalize relations with China. India already knew that China has a big role in international economy. So, India should have done what Pakistan is doing. This would have strengthened the Sino-Indian ties and Pakistan would be on the loser side. China was deparately looking for this option for more than 60 years. Finally they succeeded.

the cartel of greed hidden nexus with bjp as fake opposition.

Read again-

Re: Re: China supplied nuke tech to Pak and NKorea.
chhutia geaorge, rahul family gave away bangladesh, pok, etc. while china occupied tibet and indian regions. Atleast, india should be civil to dismantle forces of pakistan and bangladesh to manage the border. If they made noises, we could have shown them what happened in Tibet.

And bjp gave away chance to dismantle pakistani forces when we won kargil. We could have bought peace both for india and pakistan by manning us/their borders. Too much chest thumping of no use by bjp as well. Should have kept QUIET on nuclear test like iIsreal. Because we had NO INTENT to take over pakistan. But atal-brajesh-advania were too high on false pride. Quite like nehrus, indira and fake gandhis who now run bjp-congress cartel with ppunju and many traitors.
Painful fact due to rooteen politicians

India's foreign policy defies logic. What happened to Aksai Chin ? What about POK ? What has our diplomats done about them ? Why did Nehru approach UN ?
