In this country moral policing had become common and only cities which can accommodate such freedom to girls/women are Delhi and Mumbai.

such religious fanaticism is unacceptable and govt. should take stern action against such muftis or anyone else this is directly encroaching on basic freedom of indian citizens, if kashmir is pat of india then indian laws should be enforced here not some religious dictats

When sentiments hurt, people has right to protest, but in civilized way and within parameter defined by the constitution and law.

Threat to life, that's how M protest.

Indian Fatwa
by MATHEW GEORGE on Feb 05, 2013 11:43 PM  | Hide replies

In Hindu India this should be the last fatwa. Any Mugti in India should never be allowed to issue any Fatwa without the authorisation of the Goverment authorities. Any Indian Muftis issed fatwa along with his family and all associated with it should be sent to their homeland of Pak.

Enough of sugarcoating & whitewashing these ills! It is an act of moral cowardice to not resist the spread of fundamentalism & puritan ideologies being propagated by the fringe elements!

True Secularism means no special privileges, no appeasement, no oppression & no discrimination on the basis of religion! The State & Religion are separate. Do we have such SECULARISM in India today?

When a OMG could be made, what is wrong in releasing Viswaroopam? Do they want all Pakis, Afghanis or Al Qaeda & Talibanis to be portrayed as saints and apostles of non-violence? Similarly a rock band of young Mus1im women poses no threat to any religion though the mullas have gone berserk over it. A fashion show or a particular apparel worn by a model cannot be a threat to Hinduism or our "moral" values. Or the world and good qualities of Indian society will not come crashing down if a woman sips a beer or goes out with a male friend or wears jeans.

And people who have funny beliefs, should not mind their beliefs being laughed at or criticized. Why do these puritans & fanatics say that their community feelings "get hurt" so easily? If u do not like a movie or television show, don't see it. If u don't like a particular type of dress, don't wear it. If u don't like rock music, don't listen to it. Simple is it not?

Jai Babu, very well said. So the moral fabric of the society is so fragile that if girls sing and perforn, it will break. Now the girls will be forced to sit at home, later marry and then beget children and lo! the moral fabric of the society will be intact. Utter nonsense!

Absolutely correct. This however will not go into the concrete that is inside the head of the goat-beard mullahs or cow-faced pandits.

when you talk of mullahs just stop there
why you have to always bring the pandit
there? Which pandit stopped what in this
country ?

In any case you are typical sickular Hindu
and this is what is expected to put yourself
down every time somebody does something wrong.
