Gadgil & Kasturirangan report
by BIJU GEORGE on Mar 01, 2014 03:03 PM

Both the reports need to be debated with the public /people & solicit their views & opinions & only the majority of opinions/views should be considered to chalk out a road map for effectiveness of the environment policies & regulations in the interest of nature first & to the people connected with nature. It is to be noted that man cannot exist without nature & its species , so it is important for man to repay back to conserve nature & should be at behest of public & not on the interest of greedy lobbies & politicians....... Sonia Gandhi DNA
Here is a piece of news that could make Scamgress mongers happy. Congress President Sonia Gandhi is the 12th richest political leader in the world, says a report in Huffington Post World.
With $2 billion wealth, Gandhi is even richer than, hold your breath, Elizabeth II, the Queen of England and Bashar Al-Assad, President of Syria.
The list includes kings, presidents, sultans and queens with most rich leaders among the top 20 originating from the Middle East region.
To  arrive at the list, HuffPost compared each country's GDP per capita juxtaposed with a leader's personal net worth. It notes that this was to "show how different life is for the haves and have-nots."
India's GDP per capita is $1,500, while Sonia Gandhi is worth $2 billion.
So, who does the Indian Congress leader beat in the rich leaders' list?
There is Albert II, Prince of Monaco who is worth $1 billion. Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman is next on the list, worth $700 million and Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of Equatorial Guinea is worth $600 mn. Bashar Al-Assad, President of Syria is 16th on the list with riches worth $550 million while his country's GDP per capita is $3,000.
But the most surprising fact is that Elizabeth II, Queen of England ranks much lower than Gandhi in the list with riches worth $400 million to $500 million.
For Gandhi, this is nothing new. Her wealth has always been a subject of intense spec

gadgil report
by Cyriac C on Jan 05, 2014 08:01 AM

Mr Vijayan, a member of the Gadgil committee eulogising the Report is understandable.
The fundamental defect was that the Gadgil Cte consisted of only 14 environmental scientists, four or five of them working in the same insttn. As we know, th eexperts know more and more about less and less. So, they only represented one narrow points of view and the Report saw only a part of a side of the coin!
The Cte equated mining with farming. While mining spoils the enviroment, farming enriches it. Again, the Cte forgot that man is the centre of biodiversity. Just as all the flora and fauna has to be protected, man also has to be allowed to eke out his livelihood.
Mr Vijayan says that as per the Report, th epeople will decide what they want. But it really wants immediate notification of many villages and towns as ecologically endangered and hence to be put under severe controls. After signing this death warrant, what is left for the people to decide?

Damages to Public
by thyagathur chandrashekar on Jan 02, 2014 10:53 AM

UPA has made elaborate plans to damage the public; so much of privitisation without proper scintific approach, appeasement of minorities and freebies, through FDI in retail trying to bring back black money, so many scams which is very difficult to remember (latest being defense deal(Augusta helicopters)and so on. Kasturirangan report is one such measure to allow businessmen, bureaucrats and illegal miners to continue to make merry and finally make the politicians more and more richer.India is in urgent need of more Anna.
