mostly from E. Nepal of mixed Tibetan ancestry. Hardly any have served in the Gurkha Regiments of the Indian army but they are using the Gorkha name in order to gain sympathy and enjoy the privileges due ex - soldiers of the Army. These E. Nepalis are economic migrants to Darjeeling, attracted by job opportunities in the Tea Gardens & Tourist trade. Most of them have infiltrated into Darj since the 1950s when Nehru tried to bribe Nepal with an open border. They have over-populated Darj, taken over all the excellent facilities left behind by the British, turned the place into a slum. Over the last 25 years heir leaders have used the threat of Separatism to extort 1000s of crores of Rs from the Govt of WB and then stolen these funds to invest in Nepal. The Nepali immigrants do not pay any Taxes, they refuse to pay even their electricity & phone bills and then complain about lack of services. These ungrateful Nepali scum are living much better than their fellow countrymen back in Nepal or any legal resident of W. Bengal. These Nepalis in Darjeeling were petitioning the British for a separate homeland during the British Rule but they REFUSED, for very good reason, because the British knew the true history of Darjeeling which they had gotten from Sikkim for driving out Nepali invaders. By all International Law, Darjeeling is a part of W. Bengal because the Brits acquired and developed it with funds from the plains of Bengal. The illegal Nepalis had better start behaving.

GJM shall never be successful
by bharatpremi on Aug 13, 2013 05:22 PM

GJM shall never be successful.Darjjeling is most pampered district of Bengal. It gets max fund while other districts suffer.Just because these people are ethnically different does not mean that 1% of state population representing a part of a district with 3 sub divisions of population of 1.8Million in a syte of 91Million can carve out a state for itself.Nepali is a recognised language of Bengal despite it is being spoken by 1% of state's people. These peole re taking advantage of Tolerable,Broad minded ness of Bengali speaking people.Darjeeling is part of Bengal from Ramayanas and Mahabharata and shall contibue to be.
