And for decades since Independence the Indian political system have been rooting for the Arab cause calling them 'dear friends of Indians'.

I'm happy that Ms. Madhumati has taken it up with the concerned authorities of Dubai metro. Hope she at least get an apology from them. I hope her action will be an eye opener to the concerned staff and dhoti clad persons wont be disembarked.

I too have had such bitter experiences.

Few years back, clad in a neatly starched white dhoti I was in a restaurant of a posh hotel near Santa Cruz airport, Mumbai. I was politely informed by the server to get out and change into trousers. It was curious to see few Africans sitting in the same restaurant dressed in their colourful robe like dress. And here I an Indian in his traditional dress was being kicked out. I complained to the captain, but to no avail. In the end , I had my food brought to my room.
Such a colonial hangover exists in many parts of India.Sooner we get over it, the better.

In Singapore, a tamilian
by piri on Aug 05, 2013 04:23 PM  | Hide replies

tourist who came shopping on a 4 day visit once spat the betelnut he was chewing right on the pavement. None could have blamed him for having carried with him his practice of doing that on the pavements of Chennai each day!

But the poor fellow was spotted on the video camera, nabbed and prosecuted for violation of Singapore's extremely fastidious civility laws.

In order just to make him complete the term of sentence, they extended his tourist visa by 6 months!

A simple enough everyday incident perhaps this.

But this man from Chennai, he was made of real 'Indian' stuff. Apparently, he had nothing but contempt for the ways of the country he visited and was confined in. One week into his prison stay, he beckoned his jailor to come to him and then offered him 100 USD to let him out during daytime!

And the poor fellow's stay in Singapore was further extended by TWO years! In addition, he was also made to do some kind of community work each day in the immediate neighbourhood of the prison!

This news came in 'The Hindu' (Chennai) in July 1998.

In Dubai most of the policemen are Pakistanis, Pathans. It is natural they will harass any Indian in any pretext.
Don't go to Dubai. What is there, only some hotels and shopping mall. These are better in Bangkok or Singapore, and none will insult you.

Staying on the aspect you touched upon ,. The arabbi population faces a grave threat from homogenous relations. The community is not prepared to deal with the problem. True years of evolution have caused guys to like guys and gals getting attracted to gals .

But the big problem is this commun. Does not know how to deal with it . Reason : the book does not tell Wat to do!
