It's actually the city administrators who plan and take care of the arrangements during kumbh, and they have been doing it for ages even when there were no political government, while these politicians just sit in their office... always willing to take the credit but blaming administration if anything goes wrong.
DO they also frisk Saudi nationals or the Saudi king like this? I guess not. Saudi's are class I mowzzies so they are accorded respect and dignity. All class II/III mowzzies shold realize this and decide they want to be mowzies in the first place.

Ask same question to Modi, he is denied visa, if he wants to be Hindu in first place
If our govt really wants to protest, it should treat Americans, including those in high positions, the same way. Brazil did this when their citizens were harassed by US immigration. They started special checks for US citizens (I don't remember the details) which meant that Americans were singled out and delayed when entering Brazil.

Unfortunately we have an impotent GOI with and equally limp cabinet bosses..forget about the US look at the way Pak/Srilanka/Nepal & Bangladesh treats us...they care two hoots.

Why protest? They have screened Azim Khan for his own safety in US. Period. Being from UP, he might have forgottenly carried what he used to carry in his home town.

Although it's unclear where you got the stats that UP is the "most underdeveloped state", however even I was surprised, initially, that he was called at Harvard, until i read that it's for Kumbh Mela arrangement. This is indeed very special for the foreign media that arrangements for such a large number of people (exceeding the entire population of some of the European counties) visit this city during this period with all the arrangements.

... and yes I agree that there some far better people who deserve the invitation than these two.
