any action with ulterior motives is going to back fire! USA supprted islamic fundaentalists by providing arms and psychological support to drive out Russian influence in afghanistan and wanted to score over the then USSR for thir ignonimous defeat at Vietnam!
it lost 2 decades of progress in it's own country and is now debt ridden!
if it had allowed Afghanistan to boil in it's own stew, afghanistan would have learnt it's lesson and the world would have been a better place to live in!
India had remained poor ,illeterate, and devoid of any influence internationally because of Nehru's policies of an illlusive target and his own image in the world. we did not know our own strength and that is weakness! there is no national policicy for development but it is there to win elections utilising the dynamics of caste and appeasement of minorities! that cannot take us forward!

God help Afghanistan once the Americans and their allies withdraw. The inhuman Taliban may well take over.
