We no longer have freedom. Even britishers were willing to give bail to freedom fighters (though they did not try for bail usually). Britishers at least did not charge cases against family members.

Why do you pull Brithers on the negative context here....leaving aside the freedom struggle, its because of the British, India is much civilized. Take for instance, the rail network, most of the famous dams, tunnels, roads etc....were all their intiatives, which we stxpxd indians don't even know how to upkeep them. When so many knowledgeable ppl (i mean nuclear energy) are so confident that its safe to have the plant, why should someone stop just because some Japanese nuclear reactors affected by Tsunami?. Infact its a natural disaster and not man-made. If some group or the other is going to stop all the initiatives by already spineless congress govt in centre and useless state government in Tamilnadu, where is the growth going to be? and where the ever increasing population of Tamilnadu and India going to get the energy supply coming from?

If our govt. is so convinced - why not make it mandatory for all cabinet ministers (both central and state) to live in the same locality as the nuclear power plant?? - for say 2 Yrs. each.

You should know that around 25k employees of NPCIL daily work in nuclear plant throughout their lifetime.Earlier BARC colony has itself 3 reactors for over 40 years.
Nuclear Plants are sure source of CANCER in human beings.
For every KW of Nuclear Energy, We need a CANCER HOSPITAL with 100 Beds.
If you feel this is not true, go & survey the neighbours living along the NUCLEAR PLANTS in India.
Russia & America who are pushing their Nuclear Technologies to India have themselves NOT constructed any NEW nuclear plant in the last 40 Years. Why ????

Russia is providing the fuel to the plant, how ever the other countries which r providing the fuel for other reactors do have problem. again in this reactor india is not employing the technology of west countries. if india can run these types of reactors for 10 years successfully, we will not require any fuel from outside, what west countries do not like. Plz clear ur basics.

Russia & USA generate excess electricity s0 why should they construct new plants. And if your logic has any truth then USA, Canada & France would have already de-commissioned their hundreds of nuclear reactors. You should know that China is constructing new plants at the fastest rate.

Mr.Guest, West is just providing the know-how on developing the site and most likely the initial fuel - thatz it. At a later stage its India which can gain from this technology and construct their own plants.
Mr. Nagarnanu, as someone already rightly said, USA, GERMANY, FRANCE, RUSSIA all have enough reactors to supply energy to the entire world and hence they make statements for the sake of it. At the end of the day one has to see whether it is is safe, even take multiple opinion from experts and the proceed. Its utter foolishness just to go by Japan's nuclear disaster which nobody in the world expected. Even if the nuclear reactor was not their on the shores of Japan, the town would have still got destroyed, so are you saying that the town itself shouldn't have been there? Bottom line is we should support the cause of this anti-nuclear group if there are ample evidences that this reactor is unsafe, if not one would think (including myself) that there is a foreign hand in stopping this intitiative by the Govt.
Why not they arresting Jaya Lalitha who , despite being CM openly defies the government as if she is a local chieftain ? I think headstong and arrogant netas like Jayalalitha , who thinks they are supreme leaders must be crushed. And must be shown their place .

I don't see the integarity & transparency. using the religion bring the people under one umberalla and using them against the Goverment. They are geting the funds. Govt should audit.
