Most of the posts here are supportive of the nuclear power plants. They putforth cost of the plant in support of their arguement. In india most of the electricity is generated from coal and not oil as many think. This coal is coming from India and not imported. We are not able to mine enough coal and so most of our plants are running at half the capacity. Nuclear power is the costliest power in the world. France and US are having one of the highest power tariffs in the world. They are moving to other sources, realizing that nuclear energy is not vialble. Nuclear technology is something which was created for military purposes. It was used for civilian purposes because technology was not so advanced to get energy from other sources. Now this is obsolete. The main aim of the government to install nuclear power stations is not to get power but for strategic reasons. This kudankulam power plant is utter nonsense
polits like vaiko, ramdas organize silly protests only to keep themselves in media limelights, for their picts in tv and print media. state or central govts can impose a publicity tax of one lakh rupees for every photo in newspaper-coverages and every minute of coverage on tv channels. the ngos financing them at the expense of the country's welfare will be able to pay such taxes, govts can use the money good welfarevprogrammes for the people.

THESE DRAVIDIAN PARTIES INCLUDING DMK PREVENTED TAMILS FROM LEARNING GOOD ENGLISH AND HINDI AND SPOILED THEM. BUT TAMILIANS CAN NO LONGER BE DUPED BY ALL THESE GIMMICKS. KARUNA DAMAGED THE TAMILS NAME IN THE CENTRE. WITH THE 18 MPs ELECTED BY PEOPLE HE USED THEM FOR HIS OWN FAMILY INTEREST. KARUNA, THEN MURASOLI MARAN, THEN DAYANIDH MARAN, KANIMOZHI, AZHAGIRI AND NOW GRANDSONS STARTED LOOTING. PITY THAT THE CABINET RESHUFFLE DID NOT HAVE ANY TN MINISTER. TKS ELANGOVAN SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN SOME BERTH. TR BALU SHUTTLED BETWEEN CHENNAI AND DELHI FOR KANIMOZHI.
Inspite of suffering from severe power cuts, these shameless leaders are misguiding the public. There has not been a single accident in connection with any of nuclear reactors. These agitators are destroying our economy and livelihood of many workmen who are dying because of powercuts

And Vaiko talks about no new Nuclear plants in US. Does he know there are 20 new power plants being planned with 5 already in construction. The reason US is delaying because for them it is cheaper to use Gas(Oil) to make electricity than Nuclear. And yet they go nuclear. For india Oil is a major burden to enchequers and hence we need to move away to clean sources like Nuclear energy.

How do you say that there has not been accidents ? Are you not aware of the Russian Nuclear Disaster ? Are you not aware of the Japanese Nuclear Disaster ? There are several safety measures that have to be complied with and the Supreme Court has given directions to the same. How can we proceed with the project without considering the concerns of the people living nearby. The TN CM was initially against this Nuclear project. But now she has switched sides for political gains only. People are only concerned about their selfish needs for the moment and are not worried or least concerned about the future generation who will be affected.

Mr Jolly, is you are so concerned about safety please raise your concern along with your political leader and protest for Mobile usage, CO pollution caused, Water pollution which are all health hazards causes cancer.... If you are talking about death, each day so many road accident all these due to mis management, please protest against this. Also protest against corruption.

Accidents happen with trains and buses. Should we stop trains and buses till we come up with a fool proof transportation. Vaiko and Thiruma gets money for these demonstrations.
