The Minister has no role in policy implementation. If Mr Reddy's Petroleum Policies have been debated in the Parliament then how does it matter who is the minister. On the other hand if his policies are based on partisan considerations then such a policy will need to be scrapped. In fact the Govt. must re privatize the present oil companies into competitive corporations. There is no real reason why the Govt should be in oil marketing and distribution. In a similar vein, when coal blocks can be privatized then so can oil blocks. ONGC also needs to be privatized. Ideally, the Govt should be concerned in realizing only Tax revenues and leave the business operations to the professionals.
Jaipal reddy was honest and efficient person. i as samailkhyavadi,feel that he is biased in favour of distroying telugu unity by supporting state division.His hobnobbing with shinde in diverting gas from andhra's allocated share to ratnagiri is also matter controversy. but to shift him from petroliem ministry is definetly wrong decision bowing down to ambanies pressure. let us not forget that Ambanoes manipulated capital costs in earlier stages from 10,000 crores to 40000 crores and investment of 4000 crores in to chandra babu's crony Romojirao's ETV/Enadu. Naidu obliged ambanies in not allowing AP state to bid for the gas wells . Now ambanies are plannaing for four times this investment which will definetly be matter of controversy involving another manipulation of capital goods. Added to that, ambanies are pressuring to raise the cost of gas to astronomical levels.Jaipal contemplated to take over of RIL to save the country but he was forced out to save the government which was about to fall given ambanies clout with MPs. government should natinalise RIL to save he nation
Reddy announced that he wants to increase the number of full-time researchers from 1.5 lakh to 2.5 lakhs to increase the scientific output. Given the meagre amount of research activities any addition will be of great help to us. In a country of over a billion people only .2 million scientists? Some reports suggest that the number of Indian scientists working in the US alone exceeds that number. We Indians have to put in more effort in science and technology. Reddy announced as if increasing the number by 1 lakh is a very difficult task - hehehe - when you have destroyed the meritocracy by hundreds of quotas you expect ambitious youngstars to work here and plan their kid's future here. And we are up against dwindling number of quality faculty and research students who run away at the slightest hint of a foreign organization inviting them. No matter who says what - I think it is good that we have a competent man heading science and tech, it is the most important sector.
