Nehru conveyed to the Chinese that the McMahon line drawn by the British upon its treaty with the then disputed state of Tibet should be the border between China and India in the east. The Chinese refused, stating that the McMahon line was invalid since Tibet was not a sovereign state to enter into border treaties with neighbours.
Nehru, despite repeated warnings from the Chinese, ignored China's objections about this line and moved troops northward towards Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh in an effort to make the McMahon line the defacto boundary upon which the Chinese attacked Indian positions and beat up the Indian army (as easily as one would cut a hot knife through molten butter so to speak)!

china can see the influence of west spreading throughout India and how Indians are quickly falling into the hands of the westeners. This worries china a lot.
For chinese, most of all know, how the west actually broke USSR by enticing china into its camp and isolating USSR of its biggest neighbour and mostly peaceful friend.
Now the west is doing something similar to the chinese themselves, through India.
china risks falling apart and with India's help the west can accelerate it's fall.
The chinese have a very slippery slope to walk on with India. One wrong step and we can see china breaking into at least 4 different countries in the next decade or two.
china really needs to get India on the good side and it knows that it cant keep the west out altogether but it can limit the influence of the west on India by offering help and money to India.

India telling China that the latter is about to fall apart would be exactly like a dying man warning a hale and hearty one that the latter's life is threatened!

Agree. An egoistic person whose gigantic ego led to poverty and losses to Pakistan and China. Everything was for his own aggrandisement. His dynasty followed him, naming half govt buildings and projects after their family members. The most disastrous dynasty in the history of India.
Inexperienced Jawahar trusted the untrustworthy Chinese. It was a bland breach of trust. Even today it unashamedly continues unabated. Because they have many more barrels of gun powder blended with a very high degree of patriotism .
