She is a Tamil and from a Tamil Iyengar family. Just because she was born in Karnataka does not make her a Kannadiga. Her families origins are from TamilNadu. Anyway all Iyengars and Iyers are Tamil by origin. Even the ones who now state that their mother tongue is Kannada.Telugu or Malayalam.
