india china 1962 war

The author talks about 303 Lee enfield rifles and what did Chinese have was AK 47 which is a CQB weapon. Most of the Chinese were acclimitised to fight in cold conditions and also to climb fast during night while our troops were used to living in tents fitted with Bhukharies.Their communication trenches can accomodate a walking man while ours require crawling. Some trenches can even accomodate a jeep. They work hard during peace time digging and digging and also build caves while we use tin sheets and sand bags. This has not changed even today. It is similar to the 303 equipped constables did not fire a single shot against Kasab and his companion at CST station. similar to 200 MARCOS commandoes of Navy could not take on the 4 terrorists at Taj hotel. We have to know that we require toughening up and also better physial training. No use blaming Nehru all the time.

More on Gen. Kaul
by Ramchandra Sakhadeo on Oct 21, 2012 07:19 PM

This fellow, the relative of the daydreamer Nehru, has written a book called " The Untold Story ".In this he writes about the blame which was rightfully directed at him for poor construction of R.C.C. storeyed structures meant as residences of the Jawans. The supporting props of the freshly cast concrete slabs were removed prematurely on express orders of this Kaul. As a result, the slabs developed sags. The concerned rooms could not be used at all, being unsafe. This fellow has defended his blunder in the book, by saying that he read in a book on R.C.C. construction that concrete starts gaining strength immediately on being laid into forms. True, but to develope sufficient strength for the slab to be self supporting, props must not be removed for a min. 14 days for spans less than 4.5m and progressively more for larger spans. The chap had, it appeared, had not read this part of the book !!! What bad luck of India that these rogues led our country in those days.

Three most responsible for our defeat in 1962
by Ramchandra Sakhadeo on Oct 21, 2012 07:07 PM

Nehru, Krishna Menon, Gen B.M. Kaul were the three main culprits who have caused untold damage to our nation by their vainglorious attitude, arrogance and stupidity.Nehru fancied himself to be a super statesman and was bent on giving advice to superpowers on peaceful coexistence without realizing what was going on in his backyard.Menon was a closet communist and extremely arrogant person bent on insulting Gen. Thimayya yhe COAS.Gen. Kaul being Nehru's relative thought himself to be an effective army officer. It was our bad luck that these three directed the conflict, in which our brave jawans and officers had to pay for their lives.

Sardar Patel was one of the few to forewarn Nehru
by brookie on Oct 21, 2012 02:43 PM

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was one of the few in the Indian government who recognised the menace from China. He wrote:
'We also have to take note of a thoroughly unscrupulous, unreliable and determined power practically at our doors [It is clear that] we cannot be friendly with China and must think in terms of defense against a determined, calculating, unscrupulous, ruthless, unprincipled and prejudiced combination of powers, of which the Chinese will be the spearhead [It is obvious to me that] any friendly or appeasing approaches from us would either be mistaken for weakness or would be exploited in furtherance of their ultimate aim.'

How prophetic Patel was! Unfortunately, he died soon after he wrote this. Interestingly, the very same words apply in their entirety to India's dithering over Pakistan today, 54 years later. The Pakistanis are also exploiting India's appeasement and friendliness.

But Nehru, had decided to sacrifice Tibet, in order to appease China.

Of course, not! If someone invades, the PM, as usual, will keep quiet; Dogvijay will announce this is the work of Hindu terrorists; Defense minister, Antony, will say we are prepared!

We must reclaim our Territory from China as a homage to the war h
by arvind damle on Oct 21, 2012 01:55 PM

If our defense Minister says that we r militarily well equipped, we should reclaim the land occupied by the Chinese in 1962by immediately engaging in an arms struggle with china irrespective of the consequences. If we are proud Bharatiyas ands not a bunch of impotents. Reclaiming our land even after 50 years will be a true homage to those who gave their lives for the folly of Nehruled blind politicians.
