Interrogating Feminism
by Tall Male on Nov 03, 2012 02:54 PM  | Hide replies

Human society is evolving since million of years. In this process of evolution, at some time one organ of the society becomes important and at some other time some different organ of the society becomes important. Such shifting of importance can be based on geography as on macro level some countries were important in the ancient ages, some different countries in middle ages and still some other countries in modern ages. If we see on a class of professional level, we see the same dynamic process. When we see on a caste or race level, such shifting dynamics is obvious. Even on the natural species level, both in plant and animal kingdoms, we see changing level of importance of different species in different time frame.
When we look at the position of women in general in human societies, it is constantly changing. At some stage the human society was having matriarchy (it is till there in some tribal society), which was later evolved into a society based on patriarchy. With the development of modern society, after advent of industry and service sectors and with democracy, the position of women is improving in all sphere of life.
Feminism, on the other hand prophesies philosophy which has no scientific or academic basis. It is based on certain assumption, and makes such sweeping remarks that it is getting obvious that it has no relation to reality. However, due to certain cultural factors, presumptions of feminism have never been questioned openly.

Such non questioning by the civilized society has given a undue credit to the discipline, which is creating havoc in the society. Thus it becomes important to question certain basic tenets of the discipline, so that the practioners of the discipline can question those tenets, which are taken as self proved and make amendments wherever required.
-Society view is Men’s View:
The fundamental presumption of feminism is that whatever society does and says is “Male view”. The basis of this assumption is that the society acts through its rulers, and for most of the recorded history, they are Males.
Rulers are neither males nor females- they are rulers. The society has to run itself. To run the society, rulers make certain rules for everybody- males and females and in that context the view of the society cannot be taken as Male view. Whatever decision Indira Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi takes, cannot be treated as Women’s view, merely because they are women. When a Male judge of Supreme Court says that husband should obey wife, it can not be said to be a Male view. This branding of “society view” is male view is not supported by any evidence and as such has no relevance. By dubbing such historical facts as male facts, the feminist have distorted the historical developments and thereby reducing the usefulness of their studies.
-Women are treated as Objects:
The society treats everybody- every individual as object.

It makes norms for everybody- men, women, worker, journalist, judge, prisoner etc. Merely because there are some norms made for women, it does not mean they have become object. If such definition is accepted, everybody in the society is an object because there are certain norms for everybody.
The norms may be right of wrong. The norms may give privilege to some or may impose limitation on some. But they are norms. We may analyse what norms are right or wrong, we may criticize unreasonable norms- but mere existence of some norm does not make anybody object. If norms make anybody object, the every individual or every human being is an object.
Reading these two assumptions together, the feminist concludes that Society (read male) treats women as objects.
Apart from these two fundamental assumptions, there are minor assumptions like control of sexuality of women, women guilt, female experience etc. etc. It is important to examine such assumptions of feminism and develop theories which stood the test or rationality and objectivity.

MEN'S RIGHTS ZINDABAD
by Tall Male on Nov 03, 2012 02:30 PM  | Hide replies

AS PER Hindu mythology, the festival of Dusshehra marks the triumph of good over evil. However, over the years, the significance of the festival had become merely perfunctory in essence losing its true value. However, the year 2012 was different as it marked the beginning of the end of one of the most disastrous and hazardous social evil called misandry. Misandry is referred to as social hatred against men which is visible in many forms such as, Presence of anti-male gender biased laws in India.
2. Little awareness of men’s issues.
3. Trivialization of men’s problems.
4. Male disposability.
5. Systematic gender-based discrimination against men across policies – either public or private.
6. No special protection accorded to men from serious issues like incidences of terror from intimate partners, immediate family and extended family.
7. Gender based discrimination against fathers.
8. Gender based discrimination against boys in education schemes.
9. Irrational distribution of responsibilities across the two genders.
10. No allocation of budget by Government towards male friendly causes and objectives.
These problems are just the tip of the iceberg and the peculiarity of the above problems is the high degree of social acceptance around these issues from the society which includes men as well.

On the other hand, there is almost negligible social unrest against the same, barring for a few pro-male NGOs and research organizations that have taken up cudgels against misandry and its social acceptance. Even these are also an occurrence of recent times, not even a decade old.
However, with the emergence of men’s rights organizations across India, there has been a growing trend of increased political correctness around the issue of victimization and harassment of men and this year marked a drastic leap of faith in that direction, what with, two organizations – INSAAF (Indian National Social Awareness and Activism Forum) and Confidare Research (Research wing of Confidare Consultancy, the owner of India’s first ever community center for men) vouching for a new law titled – “Saving Men from Intimate Terror Act (SMITA)” which will be presented to the Govt. of India and is highly likely to be discussed in the upcoming winter session of the Parliament.
Saving Men from Intimate Terror Act or SMITA. as it is conveniently referred to, is the first ever pro-male legislation proposed by the civil society to the Govt. of India.
SMITA recognizes various forms of instances of terror committed on men by their intimate partners, immediate and extended families such as:
1. Physical Abuse: Men face severe physical abuse from their intimate partners which often includes gruesome acts like cutting off of private parts and gory murders, reports of which ar

e not uncommon in the media. However, rampant social misandry does not allow the society to recognize such crimes as “Crimes against Men” and often such female criminals go scot-free.
2. Economic Abuse: Men are more often than not forced to be the breadwinners of the family even if their wife earns and are also forced by immediate and extended families to undertake huge financial risks in the form of heavy home loans, personal and education loans, insurance policies, etc. Even in case of divorce, men are ripped apart financially irrespective of the fault.
3. Emotional Abuse: Men/boys face severe emotional abuse which includes verbal and psychological abuse. Boys face castration of emotions leading to suppressive tendencies making them averse to sharing their pain. This results in mutilated and deformed emotional states for men wherein they are silent sufferers and more often than not find solace in committing suicides which is evident from the high incidence of suicides amongst men of all ages and social strata. In India, every year more than 62000 married men and 80000 men in total commit suicide out of the 120,000 odd suicides that happen yearly on an average.
4. Legal Abuse: Men face unparalleled persecution from the legal system that ubiquitously views all men as criminals and denies them even basic human rights when it comes to implementation of gender biased anti-male laws like Section 498A, Domestic Violence act, etc

In addition to that, men are offered no protection from the crimes done by women on men. Hence, the issue of legal abuse is like a double jeopardy for men.
5. Sexual Abuse: Men face unaddressed forms of sexual abuse which include male rape, diminished sensitivity towards the male sexuality and being tagged as either perverts or sissies merely for their choice of sexual orientation. When men are sexually harassed, raped or molested by women, it becomes a source of entertainment and comedy for the society and this further suppresses men from coming out with their issues related to sexual abuse.
These and various forms of abuse faced by men have been identified as incidences of Intimate Terror against men by pro-male lobbies like Confidare Research and INSAAF. The two organizations have been instrumental in collecting data pertaining to the above social evils and have accordingly drafted a bill that seeks to address these concerns and provide relief to victimized men in such cases.
Men’s rights organizations across India have been creating awareness about these laws which have also been covered in various media articles such as,
Now a bill to safeguard men to be discussed in RS
SMITA will provide protection for men
Reacting to the news, helplines of these organizations have been flooded with support and congratulatory calls from one and all. Even, quite a few Members of Parliament (MPs) have also extended their support to such male friendly legislative initiatives.

Such a proposal, being the first of its kind and one that recognizes a social evil called misandry that dates back as old as the human civilization is, and seeks to suggest redress mechanism aimed at alleviating men from its evil clutches, this Dusshehra is truly the reinstatement of the principle of triumph of good over evil.
While it remains a matter of time, as to when the bill, SMITA, sees the light of the day, it can easily be concluded, seeing the initial reaction that
“Men of India demand SMITA”.

hope there is some hope for Men in our society!!!
by sathya koti on Oct 13, 2012 04:20 AM

Glad to know atleast there are some MPs who are willing to listen to common man's problems. and accept us as citizens of our own country rather than criminals if in a marital dispute. Kudos to your guys, thanks for all the effort. Hope our law-makers stop pretending to be deaf and blind and provide good governance through good laws and taking measures to prevent the abuse of gender biased laws. NCW in a way is spoiling our Indian family system and indirectly enemies of even women in actual sense. as in there dictionary Hindu wives are only Indian women who are suppose to be empowered. Once again thanks a lot guys for all the hardwork and now just hope there is place of Indian men in our society and families. regards.
