I've travelled in Pune-Howrah Duronto number of times. The coaches are old, probably discarded Rajdhani coaches. The journey is good. The train mostly runs on time and cuts the journey by 8 hours. However, food is horrible. The menu has been same for two years. Watery paneer or stale chicken. Even breakfast is same. There is a pantry but only for 1st AC.for others ore cooked food is loaded from stations on the route. Definitely not something people will want to have after paying so much.
I didn't understood what is the specialty of the train or the article. This is about a typical long distance train journey in India. The food or the sights given in the article are not unique to this particular train journey.
It is a Horrible name selected by the former Rly minister for this train and the coloring is like Rlys has used some leftover pain to just clean the brushes.
By the way, the name in Kannada means "death" Duranto = duranta. So this is the way the names are selected.

It is a bengali word, meaning closing the distance i.e duro (distance) ant( closing/ending).it enhances your understanding of Bharat.

The former railway minister is Miss Mamata Banerjee, a Bengali and in Bengali, Duronto means either Vast distances or restless!

I totaly agree with you...on a second thought why Mumbai is a seperate circle in Mobile Tarrifs...it should be included in Maharastra only...this is da injustice to MH people...

PUNE -HOWRAH,CSTM-HOWRAH DURANTO express is fully airconditioned train and LHB bogies (RAJDHANI TYPE).It is to be noted that only 1St class passener use to get cooked food from pantry carand preparation being done at pantry car .For others supply comes from base kichen
