The Nigeria story is not too different than the Indian one. Facts about Nigeria: 1. Oil rich country and one of the largest revenue earners from oil . The natural resources pawned out to mafia by country's leaders 2. One of largest GDP in Africa - over 250 billion USD 3. Ridiculous difference between rich and poor - 50 pc people are extremely poor, while the top brass is extremely rich. Infact Lagos is one of the costliest cities in the world
The one force that drives Nigeria continuously is corruption - is one of the very few countries in the world where a politician can steal or loot more than 20 billion USD and walk free. THe politicians who were in charge of the vast oil resources soon lent them away to private players where the oil mafia effectively runs the oil mines. To cover up their crimes they had to give the mafia free hand to run their countryside - soon the mafia took over their country. The situation is so bad that if you have to live safely in any of the rich cities you have to pay protection money to some ganglord. You can make oil money there - only that you have to pay protection money to the mafia to go out in the streets safely. Lest you cannot talk about the corruption anywhere near public places which are run by mafia and politicians. India is similar - one third of the country is beyond the scope of law and is run by Maoists who are running from the law and paramilitary-mafia combined.

In addition eastern part of Nigeria has a large MuslimPopu1ation, similar to India. THat enabled bokoHaram to take root. They rule the eastern part of the country. India will see a similar fate sooner or later, so enjoy as long as you can.

Now compare this with the India story where mine-field after mine-field were given away to private players keeping corruption money and of course the mafia. You will be foolish to believe that one political party alone is responsible for all of this - almost every crook has political connections be it the left parties or the right. He takes money and evicts farmers, locals from their land to make way for the rich miners. Not even ten pc of the total coal revenue will ever reach the poor. Also compare our staggering and poor M-population who while seeking protection will have to invariably drive themselves to something like BokoHaram. Only counting days for that to happen.
