POWER OF NSA AS SET BY BRAJESH MISHRA WHICH HIS SUCCESSORS FOLLOW
by Kabeer on Oct 01, 2012 04:02 PM  | Hide replies

Brajesh Mishra was the first NSA in India.

He set the powers of NSA which his successors followed.

During IC_814 Kandahar hijack, the then Union Law Minister Ramjethmalani was in South in Madurai.

Ramjethmalani called PM Vajpayee and said NSA is incompetent for not shooting the aircraft tyres when it still in Amritsar and must immediately be sacked.

Vajpayee summoned Brajesh Mishra that afternoon and told him that "A senior cabinet colleague of my Govt told me that you should be sacked for your incompetence. What is your response?"

Brajesh Mishra smiled, and replied "Mr.PM, as you know all that you have to do is put a date on my resignation letter that I submitted to you on the very day I have joined as NSA.

By the way, meanwhile, you may like to have a look at this RAW report on one of your senior cabinet colleagues which I think is of vital importance to national security and handed over a dossier to Vajpayee"

Vajpayee went through it and smiled and said that he can go.

The next day morning Vajpayee summoned Ramjethmalani soon after he returned from Madurai and asked him to submit his resignation. When Ramjethmalani questioned for the reason Vajpayee only showed a gist of the dossier he received from Brajesh the previous afternoon. Ramjethmalani went through it and wiped sweat on his forehead and immediately resigned. From that day onwards Ramjethmalani never had forgiven Brajesh.

Tha dossier contained all the details of Ramjethmalani's de

Late Brajeshji was a true son of India. He was the best strategist thinker in NDA governement. NDA was the golden period of India. It was truly "India shining".. Miss Atalji and now Brajeshji is no more. Sad, this country needs more people like Brajeshji.

For anyone to understand the contribution of Mr Brajesh Mishra you should understand the period in which he helped shape policies for India. Pre-1998 India was a country which lacked self confidence and belief in itself. One of the biggest contributions of NDA government (although they too made some mistakes, but atleast they where brave to take decisions and learn from their mistakes) was to generate a self confidence and belief in people of this country with a series of actions on economy front and defense security front like Nuclear test and Kargil war (If congress was in govt during Pakistan's Kargil invasion we would have handed over Kargil also to Pakistan like Pak Occupied Kashmir). Even after Narsimha Rao's reforms our country still lacked the self belief in itself and an assured future direction. This is where NDA and Mr Brajesh Mishra played an invaluable role to built a confidence in a Generation. Today's generation (who dont even make an effort to understand our countries history of last two decades atleast) may not understand and might even make a mockery of the contribution of Mr Mishra, but for someone who have lived in those times he will be remembered as someone who helped chart a direction to a modern India. Country will miss him dearly.

I c'd agree more with you on this. NDA was a sort of watershed in indian political landscape and by far the best coalition govt to hv ever taken shape in this snake-bitten country, I won't protract any further inasmuch as u hv already covered the all the gamut of what c'd be highlighted among umpteen of NDA highs. in a way indias are dim-witted, illiterate, myopic, crass, senseless pack of morons who cann't see further their noses for which others hv been paying dearly. in india, grassroot developments/tangible changes can come at a premium.
