Against honest people.

In India still a lot of laws enacted by the British, often heavily loaded against the honest citizen are still prevalent. Govt did little to change them and make them citizen friendly. This also leads to corrupt practices to escape from their clutches.

IT Act passing without discussion.
by Kiritkumar Bookseller on Nov 30, 2012 02:46 PM

The Ruling Coalition of whichever party is not interested in discussion, applying mind and make pro-people Acts.
No adequately qualified without significant social service should be allowed to contest and get elected, weather Gram Panchayat,District Council,Corporation,Legislature and Parliament.
A lot of laws are just 'Passed' but this vital law is not passed. To whom people should look.Has Supreme Court has any authority. If the highest body has no authority,Democracy is manipulated with people interest no where.

Real Actions Vs Pseudo/easy actions?
by Manish Verma on Nov 29, 2012 12:05 PM

a very good insight about how and why IT act was amended and this section was introduced without debate. I think that was need of the hour, but after that many other initiatives taken by government seems to have gone in cold bag like CCTV for Mumbai, except few ministers visit to London to study the system it still looks a distant dream. NATGRID, 1200 crore project, which was strated 4 years ago ,does not seem to have any progress, other than paying huge salaries to people involved. It would have been great to see some real progress on some of the real projects to move forward fast rather than just seeing fast action on some pseudo/easy actions.

Corruption can be fought through Policy action couple with I T
by sushanta mishra on Nov 28, 2012 05:30 PM

The Direct Cash Transfer Subsidy scheme which is popularly known as DCT is indeed a revolutionary Idea to eliminate corruption & for social upliftment. Millions of people of our Country will be benefited through the scheme. Govt is also planning to embedding several other Central Govt sponsor scheme ( around 52 scheme ) through Adhar Card. Now all the Central Govt subsidy/payment or other sums meant for mass upliftment & designed for much needed rural people of our country will be directly credited to the beneficiary account. The bureaucratic hurdles, corruption and other means of obstacles will be eliminated totally. Once the amount credited to the beneficiary account no one can take it out from them. There can not be better idea than this to eliminate corruption. Annaji & opposition should realize that corruption can not be eliminated through chaos/slogan/rally/andolan etc. on street but can be eliminated through policy action.Rest assure that our country is in safe hand & people sitting at the helm of affairs of our nation are far far intellectuals & visionary than us. They think hundred steps ahead of us.

the IT Act needs drastric re-write to reflect emergent needs
by Raghavendra Bhat on Nov 28, 2012 02:25 PM

Public Policy mandates that the Govt. and its apparatus use publicly available audits on its infrastructure computing needs, law needs to be passed to enforce that governmental bodies use infrastructure software that is free to be modified/redistributed, like GNU GPL software. The IT Act should be amended drastically to lend weight to such policy actions which can strengthen and improve our computing infrastructure needs, particularly security .

The Executive Branch of our Govt. should be shorn off sweeping powers which the present IT Act bestows it, to prevent unwanted harassment and monitoring of its citizenry. The IT Act needs a drastic re-write after it is debated upon in the public and inside Parliament.
