I do notsee thatgeneticdistancing is thereason ofJats to disallow Sagotra marriages, though shorn of mythical entanglements the distancing of marriage to distinct lineages does seem to conform to Genetic wisdom. However, Choudhuries of Rohtak could hardly be moved by contemporary Genetics. It isprimarily their fear ofparting their land to married daughter if she happens to be closeby marrying within sagotra Khap , that people some neighbouring villages. thismixingof landedinterests andbiological principlesmake a strangefixture in Khap debate ,now for some time. Daughters must be treated as equal claimants to share of parental holdings, that is modern point-of-view ,which is anathema to rural rich landlords.D. Goel
