I believe Indian electorate are much better than US electorate except for the minority vote block in India that blindly supports certain elements.

An Inspiration
by Manish Jaiswal on Nov 06, 2012 10:04 AM  | Hide replies

This could be an inspiration for Indian voters and public. In India, people after 60-65 years in age think that they have finished their life and they have nothing to do regarding their nation or society and often don't vote saying that I am too old to go to the polling booth etc. etc.

You probably did not read the headline completely: "99-year-old woman votes for FIRST TIME". She did NOT vote for 99 years!!

Also, the voter percentage in the US ranges between 38% (in 2010) to 55% (in 2008) which is far worser than India's!!

Is this what you want Indian voters to learn from?

to add more to Kela....USA does not give official holiday on the election day cos they feel more people go on vacation rather coming to vote....

first tuesday of november of the 4th year of the current term is the election day...they don't give a official holiday as more people would go on vacation from friday thru tuesday.....hence its a working day.....

not every thing which shines is gold .....its a habit of we indians to appreciate everything advanced countries do...

I think you forget that a large percentage of people voting in India are illiterates or people with little education who accept money and gifts and vote for candidates on basis of caste, religion, etc.

It is better to have fewer voters who know what they're doing instead of a large number of ignorant voters like in India.

This only proves that illiterates are more responsible than the literates!! And not all illiterates fall for the money and gifts. Recent elections in TamilNadu is proof where the poor people took money from DMK and voted for ADMK!!

Literacy is no proof of smartness!!

absolutely. in fact, those so called "illiterates" have a better understanding of whats happening around than people like Manish and dss..! Guess, they dont see Indian newspaper reports that show scores of very old people who cant even walk going(carried by others)all the way to the polling station to cast their vote..!
