I guess people outside the US are not exposed to the subtleties of the American Justice system, especially in criminal cases.
Who you are, your race, ethnic background, and what the jury (usually majority white) thinks of you, plays a huge role in whether you even go to court, get sentenced, what jail time you get, or even if you get convicted.
....Dharun Ravi was a Caucasian and Clementi was of an Indian origin, what would have been the judgement. I presume it would have been totally different.

This would not have even made it to Court. The DA will not take up such cases. Just look at what is happening with Travon Martin. That case is not in court either, despite that guy being killed.
...do not understand US law. and think they can send petitions here and there to get there way. this clownRavi still thinks he did just a small prank or so. childishandpeurile indians should learn to take responsibility and grow up.

i agree with you apurva, but this is clash of cultures in a way. the idea of personal liberty and responsibility run very deep in usa. as does the right to privacy, and being truthful in your words and conduct. in india those values are not taken seriously. the result is loss of credibility.
