Reporting of Troop Movement.
by krishnan bala on May 02, 2012 09:33 AM

One fails to understand as to how, the reporting of the movement of Indian troops with in the country or along the border can be assumed to be of Public interest. The movement could be for normal exercises or in anticipation of some internal or external threat or as even as a ploy for which the authority to decide is the concerned ministry and its delegated officers. If every secret movement is to be publicised, then the surprise component against the presumed enemy will be set at nought and expose our own troops to danger ! The bogey of a small troop movement that was reported last time when Gen.V.K. Singh's petition was to be heard has un-necessarily blown the subject beyond all proportions and the recent judgement of the Allahabad High Court rightly puts a lid over the case.Any further adjudication seems to be un-necessary.The contention of the PCI that the defence forces are paid out of public funds and hence all their actions should be opened to public scrutiny in advance, does not reveal their understanding and appreciation of the military strategy. They are still living in the days of sepoy mutiny and their mind-set requires a lot refurbishing ! They should know that even the men in the rank and file are not told as to where they are headed even in peace time, just to keep the surprise component active as is required when the country is at war !

Perspective

Its a matter of perspective what National security & War are. I think we're already fighting a proxy war within & at our borders & our National security is indeed compromised by taking our security preparations to press anals or news studios. By the way it should be reminded to the esteemed, former SC judge, today's media is not controlled by INDIANS, but by vested commercialized MNCs. The objective is not bringing out truth but hammering the perespective of vested interests as truth & minitng money out of it

first politicians ruined this country in the name of parliamentary privileges, official secrecy act( now replaced by RTI) etc and now this bunch of sophisticated idiots who call themselves MEDIA are ruining this country in the name of article 19 (1)(a) by reporting in utterly nonsensical way with their attached directionless interpretations.
