Railway -a kitchen garden
by umesh tyagi on Mar 25, 2012 06:23 AM  | Hide replies

Remember when Ram Vilas Paswan wanted Railways and had shown his anger in UPAI and Lalloo got the Ministry. It is clear evidence that Railways have always been taken as a Kitchen garden of the coalition partners as there is huge scope for earning and also creating a vote bank by providing employment on contract basis and otherwise obliging the people. We have got the most wise person on the earth as our Prime Minister as far as the Finances are concerned. Why has he not been able to tell the Railway Minister that unless there is a gradual and rationalised hike in farews it would not be possible to meet the increased cost of fuel and manpower. Every six months we have to pay the Dearness Allowance, every third monthe there is fuel hike, and we are also in the process of taking up new projects.Where from the money would come?.Will it be provided by Mamta or Lallu or Mukul Roy or any person bringing in a populist budget.
Dinesh Trivedy was right in giving a modest fare hike and also looking in to the fact that only 19000 Km of track wanted urgent attention.Time has come when some corrective action should be taken or day is not far when we shall see that Railway has become other Air India.Didi is furious over fare hike by Trivedi but is not concerned by a fare hike throug service tax.Where was Mamta sleeping when this useless Mukul Roy had refused visit the site Rail accident and PM had to keep mum. Shame at Mamta and MM both.

Railways is not a charity institution
by vivek on Mar 24, 2012 10:58 PM

The recent budget of Railways is like the saying "Rob Robin to save Peter". How can the railways survive without the people paying money for the services they utilize. How can the railways keep up with the surging fuel costs and offer better services?

by jatinder nayar on Mar 24, 2012 09:39 PM

where are the projects announced by mamta. She is the only visionary who can announce projects only for the purpose of announcement and projecting a certain image of her and her party.

They have always increased fares on the pretext of safety of passengers. Even thereafter several accidents took place and many indians died. This gimmick does not work always. Raise the money some other way.

Will Mamta pay for reforms and modernisation of Railways
by pankaj kalra on Mar 24, 2012 08:22 PM

Question is "Will Mamta pay for reforms and modernisation of Railways"? She is already facing the heat of poor administration in West Bengal. Already projects announced by her as Railway Minister have not been initiated due to lack of money. She herself is asking releif package for West Bengal and Central Govt is taking loan from World Bank worth $50 Cr. How and who will pay for all this mess ? Railways is one of the largest organizations in the world and is expected to charge its operational expense to people who are using it. If people can't afford it they have no right to use the facilities. People who are able to pay shouldn't be deprived of the facilities for those who can't. The taxes are soaring day by day with the subsidy being provided to poor people and leaders like Mamta Banerjee. I think the problem is of the system which doesn't put any qualification criteria for the leaders/MP's. Any uneducated dumb can become a leader if he has some support by talking about Minority resversation and play with the fate of 110 Cr Indian. Its just a shame
