Why BJP dont want Lokayukt ?

Lokpal will cover 5% of goverment and employess while Lokayukt will cover remaining 95%.

Probably Lokayukt is more important.

A UNIFORM LA IN STATES HAS TO BE BINDING
by damodaran mohan on Mar 23, 2012 05:03 PM  | Hide replies

The state govts. and the regional parties must not stretch 'federalism' concept too far. After all it is a union of states and not a federation of independent countries. In case of NCTC the states were right about apprehensions on likely misuse of state govt.'s police powers being proposed to be vested with the central intelligence agencies to the exclusion of the states. However in this case of fighting corruption to say that the President or the PM is not entitled to centrally legislate a uniform anti-corruption law across all states is nothing but excuse to have freedom to subvert constitution to get away from having any such binding to have a strong anti-corruption Law for the states. How can such an important law be left to the states w/o any check from the PM or the President who binds the nation after all ? Example. Can you expect a Narendra Modi to have any body but a ‘Rubber Stamp’ as his LA ?. A Mamata or a jaya or a Maya are not going to be much different. Hence it is always advisable to make LA part of LP to be uniformly implemented in all states. In respect of other provisions relating to CBI or independent investigating agency, structure of LP etc. the views emerging appear to be in the right direction and the govt. should try to arrive at a consensus to pass the BILL expeditiously in this Budget session w/o fail. In the final analysis, W/o CBI or an independent investigating agency under LP, it is better not have one.

When there are other Laws for.eg Motor Vehicle act which is enacted by central Govt. is the MV Law in all the states then why Lokayukta Bill to root out corruption cannot be implemented all over the Country?

UPA, Opposition to work on Lokpal Bill in Budget Session
by Sasidharan Nair on Mar 23, 2012 04:02 PM  | Hide replies

If the parliament is not interested in shaping up just and proper Lokpal Bill in this session, people should volunteer to march towards parliment by offering a self immolation pledge and doing it in front of Parliament on not passing the bill! If a movement is worked out, I offer myself to be the first person to do it so! Because, I am finding the political parties playing the cat and mouse game in parliament by fooling the people of their just demand on one reason or other! This time, we must raise ourselves to demand Dr.Singh's resignation for his inability to do justice to the nation's call on this count!

Congress Government

takes unilateral decisions on various policy matters before managing them to pass through Parliament like N issue, CTPT etc.

But on issues highlighted by Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev it starts enacting this drama.

The responsibility of not introducing the laws unwanted by all political parties, should appear to be shared by all.

Since the scandals of CWG,2G and Adarsh housing scams were opened, UPA2 is in total disarray and stopped working. It is concentrating on how to erase all these issues from the short memory of the public before 2014.
